LCpl Jeremy: A Young American In Iraq

Bash here…I am beginning a series here at PatDollard.com that I will call “LCpl Jeremy: a Young American In Iraq.” There is a young American Marine over in Iraq today who just recently hit the ground there and he and I will be keeping in touch. Naturally, as many of you know, Internet access and access to e-mails is sporadic at best over there.
LCpl Jeremy, as we’ll call him, said that he learned about Pat and Iggy from the “Young Americans” piece he saw on either Jimmy Kimmel or Adam Carolla (he can’t remember which).
In his email of 8/01/07 he said:
“…I came across Pat Dollard’s site before graduating SOI in California and hearing about Iggy, or rather Capt. Iglesias to me, and his and Pat’s appearance on either the Adam Carolla or Jimmy Kimmel show discussing “Young Americans.” I am grateful that people such as yourself, Pat, and Capt are speaking out and making waves. I look forward to hearing from you, as well as giving you all updates on what is truly going on in my AO in Iraq…”
Then he wrote again on 8/09/07:
“…Apologies for taking a while to get back with you. Training has been hectic. We are scheduled to leave out (after many changes) next month sometime. I never assume that we will leave until I am on the plane and headed that way, and even then you don’t know if it is going to be changed mid-flight. I appreciate the comments on the previous email, though the ones that have gone before me and paid the price are the ones that the praise should be lauded up to. I will keep you updated on the travels when they happen. I will soon be without any access to the internet, and if I do it will be hit and miss. I look forward to hearing more from you via email and the blogs, keep up the great work!”
On September 29 he wrote:
“…Greetings from the unholy land! As I stated before in my prior email, I wouldn’t believe when or where we were going until I stepped foot there. Well, we are finally here and we are heading into our area of operations tomorrow (or today, jet lag). I just wanted to let you know that I am still attempting to keep in touch and try to provide information on happenings here with our Marines. I hope all is well and that you are still preaching the gospel to those that will hear it. I haven’t been able to get onto Dollard’s site recently as internet connectivity has been limited (hence, no emails or updates from the desert).”
And today, 10/1/07 he wrote this:
“…We are in Iraq, so I can tell you that, I suppose as things progress, I can reveal the area of operations in vague references, just due to the fact that Dollard’s site is public, thus blah blah blah with operational security. As you know, God kills a kitten everytime someone violates OPSEC orders! Anyway, we are en route to the Al Anbar province, as it is where most Marines go. I will keep you updated, and will try to send pictures as well…”
So we’re all caught up with LCpl Jeremy and I would ask that you all keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He and I have discussed my sharing portions of our correspondence and I will be reprinting portions of his e-mails with his permission.
I will post pictures and correspondence as they come in.

October 1st, 2007 at 1:48 pmWhat a great gig Bash. I think it will be remarkable to track this Marine as he experiences combat at the very sharpest point of our nation’s spear. He is a true warrior and we need to remember that he represents the very best of American culture.

Looking forward to Jeremy’s ncxt post and will definitely be sending some emails around asking all I know to join me in prayers for this fine example of America’s best.
This will be very interesting, I know a young Marine from a class I recently took who did his time over in Iraq and come home. He decided just this summer to leave college and sign back up for active duty and go back to Iraq. He hasn’t been active duty for at least a year and half or more and decided to leave civilian life and all the hotties on the campus. BTW, unlike those wackos at Columbia, here in Central California the chicks dig Marines and their a lot better looking than the ivy league hags.

It really is sad that they are fighting so hard to protect us and keep our freedoms secure while a certain portion of “Americans” are fighting against them politically. It makes me and everyone here more than angry. I can’t even imagine what that would feel like while they are over there sacrificing all and have to listen to the b.s. that comes out of the U.S. in the news they hear and see.
Bash, please tell him we send our best - love and prayers for all who fight the good fight. They have our respect and thanks.
