Looks like an old F-8 Crusader.

They don’t make’em like that anymore…I think I saw two flight crew though. Maybe its an A-6 Intruder?
October 30th, 2007 at 3:15 pmHey guys…the info at the LL site where I got the vid said it was an A-6 and two people ejected.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:17 pmThanks Bash..nice vid, those guys have balls of steel.
October 30th, 2007 at 3:59 pmAn A-6 Intruder, definately. You can see one of the two side-mounted exhaust nozzles while its still on the deck. The pilot dumped the external fuel tank but couldn’t make it stick to the sky, and the right-seater hit the drink before his chute opened.
Ouch.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:24 pmDam.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:46 pmIt was an A-6. I am an Ejection Seat Mechanic in the Navy. Those seats are Martin Baker GRU-7 type ejection seats. Martin Baker makes the best seats in the world.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:48 pmJust goes to show that being in the military is a dangerous business…even in peacetime. In my military experience, I saw two guys get killed and 100 get injured enough to require hospitalization…and that was in peacetime.
When you join the military you give Uncle Sugar a blank check. That blank check includes your life which you may be called on to forfeit.
It is a serious thing to take the oath and should never be done lightly. Most civilians don’t get it…and many could care less.
The price of freedom is high. Many times it requires the sacrifice of our blood and treasure. But to those of us who have served and continue to serve…it is an honor.
Code pinko and the fucktards at America’s university haven’t a clue as to what price has been paid for them to speak their minds freely.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:15 pmDefinately an A-6, likel a KA-6 tanker based on what they punched off.
Possibly a “soft-cat” though I’ve heard steam-cats rarely ’soft-cat’. He looked to be at milpower, vying for altitude and didn’t quite finagle his AOA well enough, or the cat was just that weak. With low fail rates, the cat-crew might have entered a low weight for the shot. The crew knew immediately, I promise you, it was a bad shot because that’s one of the first things your mumbling into the intercomm when you’re slammed back into the seat. “AARRGGHHH UNGGGOOOOD SHOT!”
They didn’t try a clearing turn, and ‘punched the stores’ as the last resort-that’s the fuel tank coming off. Waited late to punch….one guy got a swing, the other half of one and a skip on the water. probably got hurt–probably the BN/NFO…because Goose always has to die.

@Dan(the infidel), and other ‘brothers in arms’,
October 30th, 2007 at 9:01 pmYou are absolutely right. This vid symbolizes the degree to which our military men and women are willing to sacrifice for our freedom. This flight crew has more integrity and patriotism in their little fingers than the maggots we spar with here on this blog will have in their entire lives. It is interesting to note that they are quiet in the presence of such heroism (having said that the dung beetles will now crawl out of their shit to burp their comments, here and elsewhere) I salute our serving, and retired and thank them and their families during this just and valid conflict.
Major Lucas…
I’ve clicked on your link, and read your bio, and some of the links for your book… I wish you well on finishing, and I look forward to reading it once complete. Thank you for your service and your heroism to defend our troops on the ground…. Sincerely…
October 30th, 2007 at 10:20 pmI thought that bird looked a little familiar; I used to fix its son the EA-6B when ever it’s electronics or radar took a shit.
