Looking at the Great Depression we're finding that the country recovered from it mainly in spite of rather than because of FDR. Perhaps the best thing he did for us was encourage involvement in the WWII. And we're still suffering from his big brother government growing bureaucracy building programs. And yes, America finally separated from England because of taxation without representation, but the Pilgrims came over because of religious persecution.
