TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Wednesday said his country is monitoring US military moves in the region very closely, stressing that Islamic Republic officials are ready for all possible conditions.
Speaking to reporters during a joint press conference with Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel after he attended a parliament meeting to defend his nominees for the Oil and Industries ministries, the president dismissed speculations that the buildup and replacement of the US warships in the Persian Gulf are related to Washington’s threats against the Islamic Republic, but meantime added, “Yet, we are monitoring movements vigilantly and our officials are ready for all types of conditions.”
Ahmadinejad further pointed to his country’s nuclear issue, and reiterated Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) within the international rules and regulations.
Asked about Iran’s reaction to a possible third set of sanctions by the UN Security Council, he said one or two countries have always striven to hit Iran all throughout the contemporary history to prevent the Iranian nations from restoring rights and gaining independence, and added that the Islamic Republic is even prepared for further antagonism by such countries.
“If they intend to continue, our country will be prepared. As you can see conditions are in the interest of our country,” he said, stressing that Iran is becoming growingly vigorous while enemies are growing weaker.
Ahmadinejad described threats posed by the US and its allies to Tehran as a last ditch effort to take concessions from Iran, saying, “From our viewpoint, issues have been resolved. These one or two countries utter such words in a bid to take concessions from us in the last moments.”
He also termed Iran’s nuclear activities “peaceful and legal”, reminding that his country’s activities are approved by the IAEA.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency has had its most extensive inspections in Iran and asked its questions and Iranian officials have rendered the most cooperation,” the president said, adding, “and the agency’s report approves of Iran’s legal movement.”
He said enemies are empty-handed vis-à-vis the Iranian nation, “First they pass resolutions, then they send different individuals to our country to see if it (the resolution) has produced any effects or not.”
Ahmadinejad stated that a large number of countries are cooperating with Iran, and expressed the hope that the said two countries would also change path and accompany Iran.
How much critical info could they actually have obtained in a country that doesn’t allow Google Earth? ; )
