Captain Blather On Anti-War Films And The Hollywood Left
A scene form the anti-American troop propaganda film “Redacted”.
My “BoycottRedacted.com” video was on Hot Air the other day, and in amongst the comments, was one of the best statements I have seen made regarding the Hollywood Elite Lunatic Leftists by a poster called “Captain Blather”.
In fact, the comment was so good, I have reprinted it here…nods to Captain Blather and Hot Air.
Here’s what liberals don’t seem to get: once upon a time, it was sort of daring to make anti-patriotic statements. Once upon a time, most war movies were pretty one-sided, even jingoistic. So you can legitimately argue that social critics of those eras were “brave” - even when they were misguided.
And they were offering ideas that hadn’t been heard before.
But now? Now all the movies are anti-American. All the celebrities are leftists. So how exactly does one more movie with exactly the same message amount to anything brave or compelling or even interesting?
These days, if you want to be a revolutionary, go make a pro-American film. If you want to brave the anger of “the man,” if you really want to speak “truth to power,” go make a film suggesting the U.S. is a good place. The “man” these days runs the media, much of the government, many of the corporations.
You aren’t ballsy if you make an anti-American film. You’re a conformist wimp. You’re the ultimate square. You’re exactly the dude you were making fun of back in the ’60s. You aren’t the people, you’re the power. Damn the man? Damn you, dude. You’re the problem.
Try some originality, you wimpy hippies. Try something actually revolutionary, like having an original thought. Newsflash: even most liberals are bored by the Micheal Mooreification of America.
Or here’s a thought: try entertaining us.

November 15th, 2007 at 12:48 pmWhether with botox on their visages or sixties jargon in their verbiage, the Hollywoodites vainly fight the ravages of time while ignoring what is eternal, such as freedom and its timeless appeal and greatness as a destination.
