NFL Question Of The Night
So me and Louie are watching Sunday Night Football and good old Al Michaels says, after the patriots score their fourth touchdown of the first quarter and a half, “So, the New England Patriots, making the rest of the NFL look like the Washington Generals.”
I had to chuckle…buckets full of shredded paper.
Will the New England Patriots go undefeated?
Yes or No? And if No, who will beat them?
And do you know what the Washington Generals reference is about? OK, thats two questions…no Googling!
Here is their remaining schedule:
vs Philly 11/25
@ Balt. 12/3
vs Pitt. 12/9
vs Jets 12/16
vs Miami 12/23
@ Giants 12/29
curly and meadowlark come to mind, without googling, who else trotted along with them?
Patroits are running the table, I thought the Steelers had a chance, but not if the Jets can take em out.
November 18th, 2007 at 6:52 pmBash dude-
Pats are going undefeated…straight on to the Supper Bowl, baby…They are the best team in football - nay, the best team in NFL history…Tom Brady and Randy Moss together could be 7 teams in the NFL…
Washington Generals: perennial losers to the Harlem Globetrotters…ask a tougher question…
November 18th, 2007 at 6:55 pmYes unless Brady gets injured
November 18th, 2007 at 7:06 pmHe was referring to the team the Harlem Globetrotters always play…
November 18th, 2007 at 7:07 pmWhen I was a kid it always seemed the Globetrotters sent the “B” team, I saw them twice and never got to see Curly or Meadowlark.
@Leslie…history? Thats a bold statement.
I remember watching the ‘73 Dolphins. Griese, Warfield, Csonka, Jake Scott made me wanna be a safety, I had all the football cards. Had I known how valuable they’d be one day I never would have stuck them in my bike spokes with a clothespin.
But there was a Steeler Team in the 70’s with Bradshaw and Franco and Mean Joe Greene the coke drinking jersey bequeather that I remember being quite good; and there were a couple of 49er line ups in the 80’s that, Montana, Lott, Rice, Craig, and fuk em up Chuck Haley, who were, well, also great.
The words that keep going through my mind with this Patriot team is “Well-Oiled machine” and “Perfect Execution” and I’d bet ya a dollar that when his career is all over, Tom Brady will take his place amongst NFL QB greats like Brodie, Griese, Stabler, Montana, Young, Marino and Favre.
Heck, if he quit tomorrow he’d have a shot at that crowd.
November 18th, 2007 at 7:28 pmSee I just took the pats/indy game as whoever is going to lose to the packers in the Super Bowl
November 18th, 2007 at 7:29 pmUndefeated all the way.
Sadly, for me the Colts won’t be doing much more though until they get some of their great injured players back.
November 18th, 2007 at 8:00 pm@Turambar
You so funny…Grandpa Favre?
Come on…even Dennis Kucinich isn’t that delusional…
We may have the suckiest moonbat politicians here in MA in Kerry and Kennedy - but we got game in the sports department…even the Celtics are winning again…haha
I will buy you a beer after the Super Bowl..
November 18th, 2007 at 8:00 pmPat i understand insane leftist drivel will be deleted from the website. Could we also delete Turambar’s insane packer drivel?
November 18th, 2007 at 8:04 pmOf their remaining schedule I think the only team to have a legitimate chance to beat the Pats is Baltimore. Before tonight I would have said Pittsburgh too but not anymore. The Pats will represent the AFC this year, and seem likely to do so with one loss or less.
Might have to watch out for Miami though.
It’ll be really interesting if my ‘Boys from Texas end up facing them in the Big Game….Go Dallas!
November 18th, 2007 at 8:08 pmOk as a cincy resident and die hard Bengals fan I truely have hated the Steelers my entire life, but since we have such a hateful rivalry with them I also have some respect for them. I think the Steelers will beat them on Dec. 9. I just think they have the type of setup to beat them. how about we bring this back up after they finish the season and figure out whos guess was right
November 18th, 2007 at 8:39 pmAnd I always loved the Globetrotters so the Washington Generals question was a good one
Unless they roll over once they have clinched home field advantage they are a sure thing IMO. Those ‘72 Dolphins may be sweating bullets and drinking hemlock as their record for only undefeated season tumbles….
November 18th, 2007 at 9:37 pmFrankly, I think the Giants will have the best chance - simply because it will be the last game of the regular season, thus the normal coaching mentality is to protect the regular starters for most of the game, so they don’t get injured right before the playoffs.
November 19th, 2007 at 3:51 amIts easy to go undefeated when you know EVERY other teams plays.
NE should have an * after EVERY win and should be held back from the Super Bowl because of what they did.
November 19th, 2007 at 6:51 amBash,
I think the bigger accomplishment would be if Miami goes 0-16. The undefeated season was already done by the Dolphins in ‘72(?). So if they go winless this season, I say “Hazzah for Miami!!”.
A perfect season is a perfect season…
November 19th, 2007 at 9:41 amI think it would be cool if the Pats tripped over Miami’s corpse on their way to the Superbowl.
