Prince Harry Threatens To Quit Army If Not Sent To Afghanistan
What’s the big deal? Charles isn’t too old to make another spare.
London, Nov 11 (ANI): British royal Prince Harry has threatened to quit the army if he is not sent to Afghanistan, according to a close friend.
Harry is said to have been pondering over pursuing his charity work and go back to Africa if he would have to continue as a “troop leader without a troop.”
The decision was apparently taken after military bosses refused to send him to Afghanistan citing security reasons.
“Harry has said he is at rock bottom,” the Daily Mail quoted a close friend, as saying.
“He is upset, angry and frustrated and feels completely redundant. He is basically doing nothing.
“It’s been very disheartening for him to be kept at home twice while his men have been sent away to soldier. He has said he is a troop leader without a troop.
“Now A, B and C squadrons have all been sent abroad and Harry has been left at home with nothing to do.
“Frequently he has been the only Household Cavalry lieutenant in camp over the past six months.
“He is determined not to be a quitter, but he has spoken to his father about his feelings and has said he is not prepared to be a redundant soldier for another year.
“The MoD is going to have to figure something out. If they don’t, Harry has said he will think about pursuing his charity work and go back to Africa. He is desperate to do something that will give him a sense of purpose,” said the friend.
The 23-year-old royal, a second lieutenant in the Household Cavalry, had been told there was a chance he could be posted to Afghanistan last month with C squadron, but he was banned from going just weeks before the troops departed, the daily reported.
The last-minute intervention was the second major blow for the Prince who was banned from going to Iraq with the Blues and Royals in May over fears he would be a terrorist target.
Meanwhile, a Ministry of Defence spokesman said that the ministry “never discuss Harry’s location or future employment.”
“We do not discuss Prince Harry’s military commitments. He remains committed to his Army career,” said a Clarence House spokesman.
hehe, he wants to get the drugs direct on the fields to a cheapper price
anyway, I understand it isn’t a good life to be a prince in our times ; last century, he would have ride in India or made the “Boers” war, that was real prince’s work
November 11th, 2007 at 12:33 pmTough call. Good on him for wanting to serve and fight, but he’d be an extremely high value target for the bad guys, and by extension, make life that much riskier for whoever he serves alongside.
November 11th, 2007 at 12:59 pmCan you just “quit” the army? Even if you’re a prince?
November 11th, 2007 at 2:25 pmThey need to let him go without media…This will give him the pride he has worked for…It is humiliating for him not to be there
November 11th, 2007 at 5:15 pmI agree with Jim. However, we all know how the media is and someone along the line would end up giving his position away. If it could be kept secret it would be great but I would not want to make any units in Afghanistan a bigger target like Frozen Tex said.
November 11th, 2007 at 10:30 pmHarry’s vacations,
definitely he needs to go into Afghanistan

Thank God somebody else can smell the bullshit in this PR crap. The Brit royal family needs to scrape the omelette off its face and Harry is just the stooge to do it.
While scores of unknown Brits risk their lives, here’s pretty-boy Harry, fresh from Elton John’s latest private party, posing for the cameras with the SAS guarding his back.
to all you suckers who actually believe this kid isn’t just another PR tool used to prop up the Brit royal family. At least he isn’t wearing his Nazi uniform.
