Wounded Warrior Foundation’s New Training Program For Wounded Vets
My friend and Marine buddy Tommy Chandler of Chandler’s Watch told me about this new program that is taking in wounded Marines and Navy Corpsman back from the Middle East and offers them a free school where they can train for careers in media/filmmaking and more.
By the time they finish their courses they will be trained in a vocation in any of a number of jobs behind the scenes in media and filmmaking, be given cameras and editing equipment, and they will also then qualify to be in The International Alliance of Theatre Stage Employees (IATSE), the union for all of those behind the scenes folks.
I’ll be telling you more about this wonderful organization in the near future. Meanwhile, check out this website:
Forget-Me-Not: Wounded Warrior Foundation for careers in media.
Dude, THANKS SO MUCH BASH!
I got to tour the school last week. It is a really awesome place with old movie memorabilia on the walls and a 5 ton parked outside. The entire building is painted camouflage and yet stands out like a sore thumb on the Stu Segall movie lot. I had a chance to meet Sgt. Matt Zbiec (USMC Ret.) who is on the Board of Directors for the school. Matt was badly injured by an IED in Fallujah. With Matt’s help, I am going to be conducting a guided video tour of the school sometime in the near future. This way you all can see what is going on at the facility.
Now the ‘career center’ has not actually opened yet. The schools dedication is on Nov 15th, and the first class will begin in the middle of January. So my goal is to have the video done by the end of January because I want some of the wounded guys sounding off in the vid.
