I think we have just seen Senator Webb go off the “Reservation”.
December 3rd, 2007 at 12:18 pmIf he is not careful he may go the way of Joe Lieberman, and I don’t think that he has the pull to win an election as an Independent!
Interesting. Disregarding the last 5 seconds of the vid, what I heard was that Webb considers it appropriate for Congress to micromanage the victory in Iraq. (sarc on) Why not, they micromanaged the Iraq war so well (sarc off). Interesting that no timetable in Afghanistan was discussed. Why? Could it be because the leftist politicos haven’t politicized that conflict…yet?
Further, it is my understanding the Iraqi Government in Baghdad as well as most of the local tribal authorities have asked us to keep a military presence for an extended period of time. It’s not, as Webb suggested, some Republican Congressmen/women that are proposing the American military remain but the Iraqis themselves. Is Webb suggesting we go against the wishes of our new allies, the Iraqi people, and figuratively slap them in the face by ignoring their request to stay? Yeah, that’s helpful for establishing trust Webb.
The dems (Webb included) need to come to grip with the fact that the Iraqis are now our allies and it would be in both our countries interest to build on this new alliance - not cut and split just to pacify whiners on the left. No doubt such a concept will increase the vitriol of Webb and his dem’s psychotic leftist politico base but if America has learned anything from Iraq it should be some things are more important than appeasing deranged people. Some things like doing all we can as Americans to help the Iraqis move into the 21st century, fundamentalist Sharia sadists be damned.
As for the last 5 seconds of the vid; show me the money.
