“Redacted” Ties With Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space”
So, the DePalma/Cuban POS anti-troop film has grossed about $60,000 in three weeks, according to Box Office MoJo, and it looks like its run is over. According to IMDB, it grossed about as much as Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space“…but the $60,000 that film grossed was 1956 dollars, not 2007 dollars. Cuban barely recouped the ad money he spent to run a “Redacted” commercial on O’Reilly’s “The Factor” (remember that juvenile stunt?).
You remember the Tim Burton flick with Johnny Depp as Ed Wood, the cross-dressing film director? Yep, it was that Ed Wood who made “Plan 9 From Outer Space”, which, by the way, is listed as one of the 5 worst films of all time. I have a feeling “Redacted” may usurp its spot on that list. Hell, it may bump “The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies” from the “Worst Movie of All Time” crown.
Nods to Byron York in NRO.
RHG -
Okay, Missy … NOW you HAVE crossed the line!
“Plan 9 From Outer Space” and “The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies” are 3:00 a.m. obscure local TV channel classics!
Note to Bri-zy DePalma:
Dude, cut back on your tanning booth visits. You’re starting to look like … oh, I don’t know … SATAN!
December 10th, 2007 at 9:04 amLOL…sorry Drillanwr…I accidentally clicked the wrong box when posting this, although I’m sure RHG has the same ideas, LOL.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:12 amDon’t you love a free market?
December 10th, 2007 at 9:14 amUh huh … I see, Bash.
Trying to get the young lady in trouble with us “Insanely Bad Old Sci-Fi Flicks” fans …
December 10th, 2007 at 9:14 amEsquire magazine recommended this film in the ‘genius’ issue I just received.
The sick thing is I canceled my 12 yr subscription to that rag this past summer because of such bullshit, but then Pat ran that “I miss the war” article from this summer, and I re-upped my subscription.
Thinking I may have to kill it again.
I hear the golden compass is failing also

Aren’t you the one who doesn’t go to the movies, unless I am mistaken … (Not that it matters … I’m just trying to remember)
Anyhow, there are two possible “hits” coming this month.
AvPR (Aliens Vs Predator - Requiem) … the sequel to AvP
And the sequel to “National Treasure” titled “National Treasure: Book Of Secrets”
The original installments of both were pretty successful.
I am a little surpirsed to hear the slickly done and marketed “Golden Compass” is tanking. I really thought families/kids would be easily sucked in. Perhaps word of the G-d killing athiest message of the books that preceded the movie’s opening did have an effect on it …
December 10th, 2007 at 9:24 amthe free market triumphs! Scrolled over the DePalma pic, love the “puke” title!
December 10th, 2007 at 9:30 amI enjoy movies, just usually a little off the beaten path.
I do recommend Eraserhead. Just don’t watch it alone or with anyone you personally know.
Follow it up with a Blue Velvet chaser.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:37 amHe’ll probably blame the Bushitler for holding it back.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:20 amDrillanwr,
If you like 3 a.m. quality movies, you should check out “Luggage of the Gods”.
My wife and I rented it beofre we got married over 18 years ago when we had a weekend with some friends. We still laugh over what a completely terrible movie is.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:22 amMay I recomend “Basket Case” - A lovely story of Siamese twins, one normal, one a “blob” that lives in…TADA..A picnic basket!. the pair travel around trying to track down the doctors who seperated them/tried to kill the “blob” sibling…Knock back a few brewski’s while viewing and be prepared to laugh your ass off at this piece of cinematic excellence that appears to have had all of the budget of a night out at the local “all u can eat” chinese buffet.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:36 amHa Ha ha! DePalma and Cuban deserve all the shit they can get. I hope this one fucking HURT! Of course the moonbat turds are going to make all sorts of BS excuses as to why these anti-war movies are bombing…
EAT SHIT, Depalma and Cuban. Seeing this film bomb gives me great satisfaction.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:41 amDamn DePalma, that’s got to hurt.
Why not explain your lame box office results with a follow-up unoriginal concept DePalma - blame your failure on Bush.
Any word on how Schizo Girl is taking this news?
December 10th, 2007 at 12:20 pmIs his face red from embarrassment? I thought so.
December 10th, 2007 at 4:14 pm$60K in three weeks. That didn’t even cover gas for the RV’s for the so called stars. I wonder if they got paid up front?
December 10th, 2007 at 4:17 pmI can’t think of anything better than seeing Hollywood lefties wearing their asses for hats. These idiots must actually believe the crap they pay their publicists to put out. America doesn’t want to see their movies, yet they think we want to hear their commie political droolings? They’re damn lucky they’re rich, because their future earning power is ebbing exponentially. And these idiots think they’re going to win the white house? You can’t fill a theatre, but you can fill a ballot box? Okay, fill a ballot box without committing fraud? Please…
December 10th, 2007 at 4:35 pmEqual to Plan 9 from Outer Space?!! I would give Plan 9 thumbs up and a raspberry to that “F-ing” fake “Redacted” documentary!! Karma does work to those who hate America and the Military.
December 10th, 2007 at 4:39 pmI know Cuban won’t miss the money, but I hope this makes it all the more difficult for DePalma to get a picture deal in the future.
When these anti-American Hollywood morons die, I hope God makes them spend their eternity watching John Wayne’s “The Green Beret” over and over and over and over and over….
December 10th, 2007 at 7:48 pmDePalma’s next big bucks movie project … Watching cheese mold.
December 11th, 2007 at 8:25 amSome from my great bad movie list is as follows: Dead Alive, Evil Dead II, Street Trash, Little Shop Of Horrors (1960), Faster Pussycat Kill Kill and Bone Yard (with Phyllis Diller AND Norman Fell!)
December 11th, 2007 at 8:38 amYou guys are forgetting the great flick “Ishtar”.
December 11th, 2007 at 11:22 pmNo “Worst Films of All Time” list can be complete without “Exterminator City,” “Absolution,” and “Corpses.”
