Canada: Why The Hell Is Iran Getting Away With Smuggling IEDs To The Taliban?

December 26th, 2007 Posted By The Bashman.

22nd
Quebec’s Royal 22nd Regiment.

Ya know…the Canucks have been kicking some serious Taliban ass over there, and they’re telling Germany to take a lesson on how to get into this fight and quit screwing around.

The Canadians are running into the same Iranian IED problems that we were running into in Iraq, and Canadian Defense Minister Peter MacKay is ticked off about it, and assured the U.S. that they are in this fight for the long haul, and to win.

I’m sending that guy a box of cigars, I like him.

But he made it clear to the Iranian government, and we all know who that is, that this shit don’t fly.

Read the Ottowa Citizen story here, fantastic read, good to hear this kind of stuff from someone else from the West beside us, you know?

Not surprising the regiment is from Quebec. That province basically carries the rest of Canada economically anyway.

Interesting that the socialists don’t raise a stink over the fact that iran has been killing American soldiers with imported ieds; oh yea I forgot, that is because that is going on in Iraq, where George Bush is killing for oil in an illegal war.
    Welcome to reality canucks.

You’re right on Bashman. The Canadians have fought like maniacs against the Taliban and thank goodness for them along with the Brits and the Danes for the help over there. At the same time, the Germans and Italians and others who sit out in the peaceful provinces of Afghanistan, outta hang their heads in shame.

Ironic part of it is this. If Germany suffered a “9/11″ type attack this week, I’d bet my bottom dollar that American troops would be in the middle of the subsequent fight…we wouldn’t even think twice about it.

I’m proud to say, that is because of who we are.

    Nuff said…

    Steve;
You’re mostly, though not entirely, confused.

The Vandoos (vingt-deuxes, 22s) are the current regiment there, but there have been others from the rest (bulk) of Canada. In general, Quebecers are opposed to any military involvement on behalf of Canada, and as for carrying Canada economically — strange then that the province is the number 1 recipient of “equalization payments” intended to help the have-not provinces.

But when it comes to fighting, as usual the Canadians are the ones counted on to get results at the pointy end of the stick.

Brian H, Your telling me I have been lied to by some Quebec businessmen? Damn, not like a socialist to lie.

I think well of Quebec and their desire to secede from Canada. Trade ya Michigan, even up, esp since Michigan has gone to hell under the ‘leadership’ of granholm, that great canadian native.

    How’s the Canadian Navy doing?

Steve, I think Brian’s right. When I lived in Buffalo, now a “big suburb” of Toronto, I was told back when Canada went bi-lingual a lot of businesses left Montreal and went to Toronto and it experienced the big expansion boom of the 60s and 70s. Before that Torontonians came to Buffalo to party, now it’s the other way around.

What’s the difference between a New Yorker and a Torontonian? A New Yorker says, “hey, get off the car”. A Torontonian says, “get off the car, ehh”.

“hey, get off the car”. A Torontonian says, “get off the car, ehh”.

I knew that one, one can recognise if a person is lying about his/her ancestry

John, it was my experience in business dealing with some Quebec based companies in contrast to dealing with some insane socialist employment regulations with employees in Ontario. Yes the Quebec guys told me with their ‘false’ pride of the greatness of Quebec. So not really giving a shit about canada I used life experiences instead of data to make my statement.
I left the formally great lake state of Michigan because of economic reasons after watching the state go to hell under the canadian born granholm.

Steve, I’m banned from Canada, have been since ‘98 or 9. I only know Canada from jumps over the border with customers in the cab and a stop at the beer store on the way back. I honestly don’t know factually what’s going on up there. I’m now back in Philadelphia, what do I know. One thing I do know, you get shot if you sit on someone’s car here.

  10. John Cunningham

Dam, how’d I screw up my own name?

  11. Steve in NC

John, gotta know why you are banned if you can share

Brewer’s retail is the best method for purchasing take home beer in the world. I will have to give that to the Canuckers.

Steve, I had moved to Buffalo in ‘81 and up until I got banned had back and forth across the border a million times. “What’s your citizenship?. “Where you going?” “When you going back?. “Have a good day”. From ‘86 when I started driving the cab it increased the crossings. Never had a problem. If you lived near a border crossing in Michigan you know what I mean. In the late 90s I was driving a cab in Niagara Falls. I was given a call to the Rainbow Bridge. It turned out to be a young couple from Turkey with a baby. I don’t know if you know what landed immigrant means in Canada, but, it’s a way many people from around the world get into Canada. For whatever reason they can get into the US, but not Canada. So, in this case they were going to get a cab for the sole purpose of going to Canadian Immigration, just across the bridge and then apply. Now, the cab driver has to stay with the passengers because if they’re not admitted you have to bring them back. I had done this before and it usually didn’t take long and I never had to bring anyone back. Now I have no control over all of this, to me it’s just a call from the dispatcher. This was taking an unusual amount of time and after about an hour the Immigration Officer turned to me and asked me if I had ever been arrested. It blindsided me and because I never fucked around on the border there was this scramble to absorb my thoughts, go back in to my past and remember what it was all about, but, I blurted out, “yes”. Now, we’re in 98 or 9 and I’m trying to remember what happened in ‘77 in a Philadelphia hospital parking lot when I got into a dispute with a security guard where I had parked the cab so I could go into the building, announce who I’m there for and get out of the parking lot and be on my way. There was this traffic circle and the procedure was to go to a corner of the lot, well out of the way of the traffic flow, yet close enough so you didn’t have to go far to get to the car. This security guard, after I had gotten to the point of no return told me to go back to the cab and put it up around the circle in the middle of the lot. It was kind of like being on a one way street with parking on both sides and he wanted me to move the cab from one side of the street to the other. In the time it would take for me to do this it would take less time for me to continue on and then get out of the parking lot altogether. I had never seen him before, I was into I think my third year of being into and out of that parking lot a million times and decided to ignore him. I didn’t say it out loud but, under my breath I said, “I’m not in the way, don’t bother me.” I’m about 130 and he’s about 190-200. He grabbed me around the neck and flung me through a hedge row and then the knuckle dragger came lumbering through the hedge row to grab me again. I didn’t want to get flung again so I let him have it in the face with tear gas from a cannister I carried in my hat. Stopped him in his tracks, I continued into the hospital, announced who I’m there for, but he shortly came in and since it was a charge to the hospital, he told the girl behind the desk not to give me the charge paper. Well, can’t get the passenger, I’m out of here. So I go back to the cab and I can’t find the keys. It turned out that while I was flinging and spinning the keys fell out of my hand and he picked them up. Now, what they’re doing is calling the Philadelphia police, I can’t “get away”, they arrive and I’m carted off to jail charged with assault and possession of an instrument of crime. The gas was legal but it turned into an instrument of crime because it was used in the while committing the “crime”. Prior to that day there were three times people came after me with knives and it kept them at a distance and that was OK. but, not today. Fast forward to court and I had a reasonable judge. He saw the absurdity of it when hearing both sides and he decided to lower the charge to harassment, gave me a fine of $108 and the record was to be expunged in a year. As unreasonable as the guard was, it was his parking lot and I should have done what he said, but he didn’t have to over react. Now, back to Canada. There’s a sub, sub, sub, sub paragraph in the immigration laws that if someone volunteers the information, and I could have said, “no” when he asked me, and I would have been technically correct, even if the person seems like a nice guy, but, if you want to be a bastard you can go right ahead and ban him. So he did. Canadians are hysterical about guns and he considered me a violent person and equated the CS to a gun. I shit you not. I really took it hard, it was like being restricted from a part of something that had been a part of daily life. It wasn’t going to cut into my money, I can make the same amount staying on the US side. Here’s the kick in the ass. The couple from Turkey were put into a Canadian cab to take them down to Fort Erie because that’s where the Turkish interpretor was, a nice 17 mile fare. There was the occasional trip to Toronto, 100 miles, they were out, oh, fucking well. I did get an opportunity to stick it to Canada about six months later. I was given a call to Goat Island, one of the islands at the top of the Falls. They were from Japan and didn’t speak English too well. They said they were going to the Sheraton and then onto the Buffalo airport. Should be about $60 by the time it’s all over. I get to the Sheraton and they said, “no, Canadian Sheraton”. Yea, there’s one on each side of the border. Fuck! What I should have done is call the dispatcher, they’d have sent another cab, I’m out of a fare to the airport. Fuck that, I’m not going to give this up. Just crossing the border and coming back adds $30, $15 over, $15 back. I’m going to do it. So, I took a deep breath and put my mind in a pre-ban frame of mind and headed for Canada. “Where you going, how long you staying, have a good day” There was a short delay, they had to check the passports of the passengers. Made it through, no problem. Now, going back, that should be no problem because I’ll be coming back to the US. We were in Canada about 20 minutes but, it seemed like forever. All these things are going through my mind, what if I have an accident, calm down, don’t get hysterical. At worst I’d do a couple of weeks in jail and then get thrown out, again. Without exaggeration making it back was like coming back from Vietnam, the feeling of relief, I’m back in the US. Oooo Canada, you’ve lost your fucking mind. Well, the Japanese tourists got a charge out of it. Of course they knew nothing, I told them about it on our way to the airport. Got, a total of $100. The worst I’d ever done was speeding tickets, I’m a cab driver, I’m in a hurry and that day in that hospital parking lot in Philadelphia. Well, there’s the illegal substances, but the border was never involved and I don’t do that anymore. That’s enough excitement. My license expired in Nov ‘02 and the fourth gun to the head the month before, I didn’t get it renewed. If I’m ever in a cab I’ll be in the back seat.

Steve, yes the Quebec businessmen are lying to you. Saying Quebec IS the economic force on Canada is laughable. Almost as funny as saying North Carolina economically carries the USA.
