NFL Bashage Game Of The Year! Patriots On The Verge Of History

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FUCKING FOOTBALL?

You NFL fans know what is at stake tonight.

For the casual observer, history is at stake. No team…

NO TEAM…

No team in the history of the NFL has gone undefeated throughout the regular season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

A win tonight ties that record. Miami went on to win all 3 playoff post season games including the Super Bowl. If New England does that, they will also tie that record, but the difference would be that the Patriots would have won more games than the Dolphins from Game 1 to the Super Bowl because of the longer regular season schedule. The Dolphins had a 14 game season and the Pats have a 16 game season.

But Tom Brady said something a few weeks ago that kind of put it in perspective. He said that along the lines of going undefeated up until that point in the season, which was like 10-0 or so, he reminded the reporter that at one time, the patriots had won 21 games in a row. Which was like week 4 in the ‘03 season or so, up until week 6 of the ‘04 season with a playoff run and Super Bowl win in the middle of that.

That is the longest win streak in NFL history.

But I remember throughout the years, whenever a team was looking good, going 9-0 or 10-0 or whatever, they would always start talking about the ‘72 Dolphins and Don Shula would always appear in the booth nervously laughing…

Tonights game is unprecedented, as far as I can remember, in that it was initially scheduled to air only on the NFL Network (the greatest thing to happen to the game since Monday Night Football) but there was such a public outcry, that the NFL was pressured by people on all sides to let it be simulcast on other major networks, namely CBS and NBC, because the NFL Network was not available in millions of households.

I predict one day that the NFL Network will carry all the games. It would be the smart business decision for the NFL, and make it available to all. Dude, I see it coming.

Another prediction..tonights game will be the most-watched TV show all year, with probably the exception of the Super Bowl last January.

Great year for the NFL, and I’m not a Pats fan. But I sure do like that Brady kid…he’s definitely an all-time great.

I love the NFL, I really do. heh heh

Yeah, Bash, looks like John Kerry won’t have to drag the NFL Commish before a Senate hearing afterall, eh?

Looks we got a game going on. All the talking heads were wrong once again. Neither one of these two teams are treating the game like it doesn’t matter. Sitting down starters? LOL. I don’t think so. How would you like to be the ONLY coach that beats the Patriots in a regular game?

Nobody on either team is going to sit on their laurels. It’s smash-mouth football at it’s best.

Congrats to the Pats…they did it.

The Giants put up a good fight. I’ll be rooting for any team that plays the Pats from here on out. I love irony. It would be ironic if they lost in the playoffs after a perfect regular season or got their asses handed to them in the Super Bowl.
