Was Iran Trying To Get Us To Fire First?

Just wanted to sound off on the Iranians here…

Regarding the incident in the Straight of Hormuz today:

It would not surprise me in the least that they were trying to get us to fire the first shots so that they could whine to the Greater Muslim global community that it was the “Evil Americans” who attacked the innocent Iranian navy, thus shoring up suppport from so-called “moderate” countries in the region and making it harder for countries who would be potential U.S. Allies in the region to side with America in a war.

This is their strategy and is also evidenced in their Nuclear Weapons Program. I have said it time and again that the Iranian Theocracy is hell-bent on hastening the coming of the 12th Imam Al Mahdi, and one of the ways to do so is create chaos in the region via all-out war.

This is why they are always boasting very loudly about enriching uranium, and adding centrifuges, and upgrading missile delivery systems…so that they can goad Israel and/or the U.S. into striking their nuclear facilities much the way Israel struck the Osirak facility in Iraq 27 years ago. Then Iran will feel justified, and will attempt to justify, everything it has planned, and does, to its Muslim neighbors, and garner their support.

Support they wouldn’t get from some countries, if Iran was viewed as the instigator.

They want war, but they don’t want to be seen as the ones starting the war.

The Jamkaran Mosque in Qom, Iran, where the 12th Imam, Al mahdi, is supposedly sitting deep in a well, waiting for the right moment. Note the renovations taking place…Ahmadinejad and the Iranian theocracy are behind the renovations in order to make the place nice for Al Mahdi.

not being military myself, i still have two thoughts on the matter…

    1) the iranian ship was directed to behave accordingly by superior officers -

this would show the afore mention strategy, and a kind of weird immature unruly nature of the iranian military - ordering their troops to “taunt the americans into shooting” which shows a rash, unthoughtful command that would make rash emotional decisions in combat, hopefully leading to their defeat

    or

    2) its was an independent action taken by the ship involved -

this would show an unruly and incompetent military that has no discipline and can’t follow orders… they should break down if forced to fight us

Was’nt it the same imams that ordered untrained boys to be mowed down by machine gun fire in human waves against Saddam in the late 80’s?

This is hardly the first time we’ve had a run in with Iranian forces, and there a hell of a lot more then harsh words being fired back and forth along the Iranian border. You may not always read about it in teh press, but lives have been lost and taken. The war with Iran already includes casualties on both sides, but just hasn’t been declared. What I still am not sure about is this coordinated at the highest levels in Iran? Or has their little anti-western Propoganda monster grown so much they can’t even control their own troops?

Hard to tell what happend, but it seems as though he might be trying to provoke us. I am just glad that it was not like what happend with englad. I am glad that our guys are okay, but I hope this does not happen again.

Anyone here read Vince Flynn?…. I won’t get too worried until they use one of their Kilos to sink one of their own ships and blame it on the US. It’s just fiction, but Flynn’s characterizations of Iran’s arrogance and radical Islam are just too damn applicable….scary.

I’m having a Feng Shui moment,
The ground the mosque sits on would have a better flow
if we replaced it with a giant blast crater.

I would suspect that they launched the 5 attack boats to harrass our ships to see what our reaction and protocol would be so that they can plan future engagements. i.e.

    1. How close can a boat get before they are verbally warned by radio or bull horn?
    2. How close can you get before they take up weapons and possibly fire warning shots?
    3. How man men on the ships deck reacted? What weapon systems were brought to bear on them?
    4. After making verbal threats how did the ships respond?

All of othese things can be of use if they want to plan some type of suicide boat attack on our destroyers or cruisers.

I believe the incident to be strictly a recon op. I said it earlier that the Iraniacs are testing our defenses. This isn’t the last time they’ll pull this shit. The question is, will the next incident be a suicide strike while disguising their intent and using the same tactics?

The screwballs are going to strike at some point. Change the ROE’s now, before it is too late. Determine how close they would have to be to cause damage to our ships. 5 feet before they enter that range, open fire and destroy them.

“as Iran Trying To Get Us To Fire First?”

Yes and we should have destroyed them and denied ever seeing them

  10. ok

I think ‘js’ makes a good point

 Isn’t 200 yards WAY too close for a potential attacking boat to come with them acting the way they did. I am shocked at how slow the US response was that they could get that close without gattling warning shots across their bow. Any Navy guys out there want to comment?

  12. American Verm

They should have shot a couple of holes in the hulls of those cigs and dispatched rescue boats to help our Iranian friends who had caught an unfortunate wave that must have tipped the boats. Then we could have held them for 30 days for their own protection as we attempted to provide “medical assistance”. They would then be returned safely to Iran after they have given all of the info we wanted. Back off you Iranian Fuckers!

  13. Gandalf

200 yards is one ship length. Were I the Captain all 5 boats would be sleeping with the fish. They want an incident - give it to them. Collect the bodies, ID them, ship the remains back in a diplomatic pouch through the Swiss and enclose a note - “That’s Twice”

  14. TerryTate

Like JS said, it looks like a probe of our Navy ships defenses. Their may be political stuff also, but I would bet Iran is gonna try to create an incident soon.
