The only effective way to remove the black market is legalize & regulate the product. The “War on Drugs” is no different that Prohibition… and all Prohibition gave us was the Kennedys.

  2. Fripp

Over 1,000 attacks last year and yet we’ve got two border agents in jail? Sounds a little backwards to me.

  3. Dan (The Infidel)

Legalizing drugs is not the answer. I’m a former user and I’m dead set against it. That’s a stupid solution.

It isn’t just drugs that is being smuggled, It’s people too.
That includes illegals and women transported for sex-slavery.

This whole mess is the result of a bs border security plan by the current administration. Not enough emphasis, troops or agents or Concerned citizens are in the mix.

And I’m not interested in reconquista. Legalizing drugs is a victory for no one but the terrorists and the victims of drugs.

I’m not interested in giving up my land or my nation to punks. Give me a fooking sniper rifle and a mandate and I’ll fix that place but good in a single night.

  4. John Cunningham

Labratory rats when offered water and cocaine choose cocaine. Dan, you’re absolutely right. This is one of those don’t do as I (did), do as I say.

  5. LMcG (Texas Mom)

Thank you Dan . . . you are absolutely 100 percent correct.
    ******

Failed-ass border policy of the Bush administration . . .

But then maybe it is not failed from their point-of-view  MAY THEIR POLICY IS WORKING JUST FINE!

Maybe Dallas area kids dying from overdoses on “cheese” - Maybe those deaths are all part of their plan.
Maybe cop killing drug dealers -
Maybe dead cops are part of their plan.
(RIP Senior Cpl. Mark T. Nix).

Surely Ramos and Compean in jail for 10 years for an administrative error makes sense . . .
Jailing border guards is part of their plan . . . send them a message!

Johnny Sutton is President Bush’s “dear friend” . . .

    I am pissed.

  6. Indy

    That’s pretty backwards Dan.

“And I’m not interested in reconquista. Legalizing drugs is a victory for no one but the terrorists and the victims of drugs.”

Having your artificially high income shattered by a simple free-market solution is anything but a “victory”.

Same thing in Afghanistan. They could’ve just used the opium fields to make cheap morphine and sold it to third world countries, but instead we sent the DEA & Columbian narcs, who can’t even put a dent into American imports to go battle it. This put more money into the pockets of the terrorists, and will continue to.

    I hear ya, Dan.

Imagine the boost to the economy if kiddie porn were just legalized already …

And before I get the “drugs are a victimless crime” bullshit …

    BULLSHIT!

Wanna compare notes on how many rapists/murderers used drug use as a defense/excuse in their criminal trials … and swayed the juries and judges to go easy on them? Who the fuck were the victims of the drugs in the first place?

Alcohol is legal … but it still plays a part in creating victims on many levels.

  8. David Ross

    Amen Dan and Drillanwr!

Tell me Indy, why wouldn’t that same argument hold true towards Murder?
“if we only could legalize murder the crime would go down”.

    Simply ludicrous!

It’s time to up the anty.

  9. Dan (The Infidel)

    @Indy:

Backwards? I don’t think so. You’re out-voted and dead wrong on legalization of drugs. Get fooking real.

  10. Indy

Lets see, somebody smoking a joint in the privacy of their own home vs a

    Yeah that’s pretty different.

Alcohol kills people and destroys lives every day.
    Cigarettes kill you slowly.

Both are regulated and legal. When alcohol was banned, we had bootleggers and speakeasys, a massive black market, and the rise of organized crime. In an attempt to enforce a moral issue, we screwed ourselves, and wound up with Ted Kennedy.

So fast forward to the 80s, and Reagan declares a war on drugs as a moral issue. That’s about when crack came to the ghettos, we saw the rise of the cartel kingpins and made them billionaires, and tax payers get to foot the bill for the huge prison population increase and counter-narcotics efforts.

I’m not saying have guys drive down the street in ice-cream trucks passing out heroin. That’s retarded. Simply legalize drugs, regulate them like anything else, and punish the people who violate the regulations accordingly. Grow them at home and put the money in the pockets of Americans.

Drug prohibition works about as well as gun control laws. The people who stand to make the most profit from it don’t care about the law anyways.

I once read that “War is a measure of economic strength”, by B.L. Hart iirc. Right now, as a society, we’re just funding the people who hate us, and it makes no sense. If you want to cripple their efforts, you demolish their economy, which is only profitable because of our current laws.

  11. Indy

and for the record, if somebody does come across the border with machine guns, we should be shooting at them with Apache & Cobra gunships.

  12. Dan (The Infidel)

    Indy:

Parse all the words you want. Your legalization argument is still stupid. You want to smoke dope? Then you’re an idiot. You want to aid and abett the terrorists by legalizing it, then you are an idiot twice over.

Save your stupid arguments on legalization of drugs for the Rhue Paulities. You’ll get no support here.

Finally, like I said dumb ass, I’m a former user. So I speak from experience when I say NO LEGALIZATION OF DRUGS, not now…not ever.

Rehab is the way to beat drugs. It works. So does jail in some circumstances. I have a ton of ex-drug using friends that will testify to both as the keys to them also getting off of drugs.

Get your head out of your ass.

  13. Phil N Blanx

I think there are good arguments on both sides of the drug issue but that IMO is an argument for another day and gets us sidetracked from the immediate need to do something about our southern border.

I like Dan’s solution to the border issue - if only. In reality though, it’s going to take some legislative action and in an election year I don’t see that happening with politicians more interested in their political future than taking a strong stand on the border thereby alienating (pun intended) many potential voters.

Despite Bush’s border shortcomings the only thing for sure is the dems are not going to ever do anything except make matters worse on our southern border. Our only hope rests in electing Republicans to POTUS and Congress and then holding their feet to the fire to get something done. The whining Dem base certainly isn’t going to insist either Dems or Reps do something on the border. So it’s left up to us. We stand a better chance working with Republicans than Democrats.

  14. Indy

    Dan,

Explain how crippling the enemies economy is aiding and abetting them. All you’ve managed to do is say that you’ve had problems, assume I do drugs, and throw insults.

If you can make a legit arguement, go for it. You have not and can not. Basically your entire arguement is that if drugs were legal, you and your friends would run right back out and turn into crackheads.

God forbid anybody take some fucking responsibility for themselves and not rely on a nanny state to protect them from their own failings.

  15. Dan (The Infidel)

    Indy:

You aren’t very smart are you? You can’t figure that out?

  16. Indy

Don’t leave me to draw my own conclusions. I’ll think you’re a religious fundamentalist who views it as morals flying down the drain, which would make you barely a step up from Hamas in my book. It can’t be a freedom arguement, that thing terrorists are always trying to get us to restrict, because we’ve already restricted them, and have since the 80s. Maybe you just hate Mexicans? All I know about you is that you’re an ex-crackhead who wants a sniper rifle and license to kill. How the hell am I supposed to be able to decode your thoughts over the internet?

All I asked is for you to put together a solid, coherent statement on how crippling the enemies economy lets them win, but you haven’t done that. All you’ve been able to do is point a finger and go “you’re stupid!”. It’s childish and sad. History, statistics, and reason are on my side. All that’s on yours is a legacy of drug abuse and name-calling.

So please, pretty please, explain how crippling their economy is them “winning”.

  17. Dan (The Infidel)

    Indy:

    1. You’re off topic

    2. I made my point already.

    3. Don’t really care what you think about me.

    4. Get your head out of your ass lib.

  18. indy

    1) A major source of border incursions are due to drug running. Therefore, I am on topic.

    2) No, you didn’t. You spouted meaningless BS with nothing to back it up.

    3) Hooray for you Mr. Recovered Crackhead. You keep replying, so obviously you care about this thread enough to make feeble attempts to slam other peoples opinions.

    4) I don’t, and have never voted Democrat.

You know what they say about assumptions…

  19. Dan (The Infidel)

    Indy:

    Bwahahahaha…you’re too funny.

  20. franchie

legalize & regulate the prostituates  in the brothels

I had an ex-con employer once who used to tell (brag) about how the inmates would use anything to get high. They’d inject floor cleaner, butane, anything. Once a user, it’s touch-and-go whether there will ever again be a period of adequate brain function to leverage to stop using. Dan and his friends are the lucky ones.

  23. Dan (The Infidel)

    @Brian H:

Took two years to recover from the damage done by drugs. I used mathematics to recover brain-function. Specifically Calculus and Trig.

I recommended the same method to my friends. Taking college-level courses or finishing a HS education helped my friends…

Bottom line is you either got to want to get well, or have someone (like a judge) hold the sword of Damocles over your head to get ‘er done.

I don’t recommend trying drugs. I tell kids “Dope is for Dopes”. It doesn’t always work on every child, but it has worked on some.

Those that do drugs, I can assure you that you can have just as much fun being sober as you can getting high.

I tell people not to use drugs or smoke for the same reasons. You become a slave to the cravings…and both can kill you.

    Booze is no different.

In sum, you can have a blast being sober. And it gets easier with time. For me I’m entering my 17th year of sobriety and I have never looked back.

It doesn’t take a ten-step program to quit. You just gotta have enough “want to” to get ‘er done.

Now I’m off to my favorite sport: Blogging in Dollard Nation and reading a new book: “Defending the West: A Critique of Edward Said and Orientalism by Ibn Warraq.”

Add that one to the list of “Dollard Nation” recommended books to read.

Dan, try to use real arguments next time instead of throwing insults to legitimate arguments.
