With suicide bombers in the capital, spiralling opium production and half the country prey to Taleban guerrillas, Afghanistan’s spiritual guardians have discovered a dangerous new peril: Indian soap operas.
In an echo of the strict religious laws of the Taleban era, the Islamic Council of Scholars won the backing this week of a powerful government minister in its campaign to get dozens of wildly popular Bombay dramas off Afghanistan’s television screens.
The Minister of Information and Culture has written to television executives to threaten prosecution if they show footage that offends morality. He is particularly concerned about Indian soaps.

In 1300 years, they have evolved only in the sense that they are now using bombs and bullets instead of arrows and swords. The continued existence of such an ideology is such a threat to the world that it would be cheaper and easier to simply nuke Mecca and Medina during the Hajj. This story is telling proof that the entire world needs to unite against these people, push them back into their cave, and seal them in.

They take different routes, use different justifications, but it all comes down to an inherent hostility towards life.

Allah (Hubal/Baal) can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He doesn’t give any reasons. There is no ’spirit of the law’ in Islam. I’ve noticed much of it goes back to Old Mo changing the law anytime he got something out of it. When he finally croaked, everything supposedly became locked into place.
Naturally, it didn’t take long for his successors to start fighting over what verses abrogate which others, usually based on what was in their own best interests.
The same crime, in the same circumstances, being treated totally differently based on who the criminal and the victim are is just one of the least examples of the utter lack of rationality in Islam.
Christianity considers sex sinful, and holds that there is no sex in Heaven, and that there is sex in Hell (if I remember Dante right; I’m not sure if it’s official Church doctrine).
Islam considers sex sinful, and holds that there IS sex in Paradise, and that there is no sex in Hell (at least, all the depictions of Islamic Hell didn’t include any sex scenes).
While it’s true Christianity as a whole isn’t entirely innocent, its most extreme raving lunatics would be considered ‘moderates’ or even liberal by Shi’a, Salafi or Wahabbi standards.
You can stray only so far from the Golden Rule before claiming to be a follower of Jesus becomes a joke.

me: Not quite. Christianity considers sex outside of marriage sinful. Sex inside of marriage is just fine.
There is no marrying or giving in marriage in heaven. No female or male. There is no need for sex in Christian heaven.
There’s no sex in hell either. In the next life all are spirits and have no need of any human desires. However in hell, there is no air, no water, no hope, no sex and no devil…at least not till judgement day.

Islam doesn’t consider sex evil. I haven’t found that in the Koran. Islamic jurisprudence seems left up to some mullah to decide what is or isn’t sinful or lawful. Many follow Christ…where the rubber meets the road is in obedience to his teachings. And since all have sinned and fall short…no one is without guilt. The standard for following Christ…unlike Islam…fortunately is not made by men. So while men/women may hold Christians to an impossible standard of conduct…Christianity does not.
And there is no sword of Damocles hanging over a Christian’s head as there is in Islam. Christianity is stictly a Democratic enterprise. If a Christian wants to leave his church he is free to do so. In Islam he/she must be executed.
