January 17th, 2008 Posted By Pat Dollard.

Okay, so my surgeon ( who is one of the top docs at UCLA’s famed Jules Stein Eye Center ) said I had one of the worst retinal detachments he’s ever seen, but that the surgery went very well, and I “have an excellent chance at recovering my vision”. I’m supposed to keep my head lowered for six hours a day for weeks, and that I’m supposed to do no work or, especially, endure no stress until Wednesday. Yeah, right. I’ve got so many fires to deal with, that just ain’t gonna happen…

My deepest thanks to all of you for your prayers, best wishes and support.

6:35 P.M.

Been a hell of a week. I also crashed my Hertz Rent A Car twice. Real accidents, crumpled the hood of the first one, a mustang.

Great news, but figure a way to work with your head down, and do lay back till Wednesday.

  6. Phil N Blanx

I’M NOT YELLING AT YOU WITH CAPS PAT…JUST TRYING TO MAKE THIS A LITTLE EASIER TO READ. BUT THE WAY YOU’RE REACTING TO THE DOCTORS ADVICE SOMEONE SHOULD BE YELLING AT YOU.

FIRST THINGS FIRST PAT — DO WHAT IT TAKES TO GET WELL.
THE ANTI-MILITARY/AMERICA PUKES AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE ANY TIME SOON. GET YOUSELF 100% AND THEN REJOIN THE BATTLE.

ONLY TALKING ABOUT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND IF ANYONE DESERVES SOME R&R IT’S YOU PAT.

KEEP THE FAITH BRO AND THINGS WILL WORK OUT.

“… the surgery went very well, and I “have an excellent chance at recovering my vision”. I’m supposed to keep my head lowered for six hours a day for weeks, and that I’m supposed to do no work or, especially, endure no stress until Wednesday …”

    G’DAMIT PAT!!!! :sad: :mad: {i am so glad that surgery went well and that you have an excellent CHANCE at recovering your vision :smile: }

    - YOU SHOULD BE HEAVILY SEDATED IN WHATEVER POSITION THE DOC TELLS YOU TO BE IN. FOLLOWING HIS ORDERS TO A ‘T’! YOU ARE JUST TOO HARD HEADED FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
NO STRESS AND NO WORK MEANS JUST THAT. YOUR VISION IS IMPORTANT FOR SO MANY REASONS. PLEASE DO NOT UNDO WHAT THAT HIGHLY SKILLED SURGEON HAS DONE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE!

BASH SEND OVER A BIGGER NURSE TO PIN DOLLARD DOWN IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. BIGGER BOOBS WHATEVER IT TAKES!

Pat, ok i feel better now but i hate the way you are not taking this seriously enough and i hope you don’t ban me for yelling at you.

“BASH SEND OVER A BIGGER NURSE TO PIN DOLLARD DOWN IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. BIGGER BOOBS WHATEVER IT TAKES!”

    Sandy…

    Bigger boobs?

Did you see the…heh heh nevermind.

  9. Sandy

Yeah, I saw em but he still got away!

Send three nurses with HUMUNGO BOOBS and sedate the hell out of Pat ~ something has to work! Please!

  10. Chad

    Try sending this chick!

  11. drillanwr

    Chad …

We’re trying to SAVE Dollard’s eyes … not knock them out of his skull …

  12. Sandy

       :!:

  13. Sandy

Rack em up! Three sets of those babies should keep him where he needs to be! Hell we gotta try.

  14. Laura (no longer liberal)

Pat, I’m really glad to hear the surgery went well. But I’m afraid I have to join the chorus — do what your doctor tells you to do. Please!! The healing is probably more important in eye surgery than almost any other.

  15. A. S. Wise- VA

Here’s to a speedy, and successful recovery! Take care, Pat.

“Been a hell of a week. I also crashed my Hertz Rent A Car twice. Real accidents, crumpled the hood of the first one, a mustang.”

driving - crashes - impacts - WTF???? AS THE GUYS ALWAYS SAY - WTF? OVER?

. . . for the love of GOD I DO NOT THINK HE IS LISTENING to reason!

  17. Sandy

ooops. I think and I hope you meant the crash was PRE surgery. Out.

  18. rockin robin

Pat, great advice again from all the dollardarians :-) Please listen to the doc. God’s speed brother on a quick recovery.

  19. Jeanet

 you guys/girls crack me up.

    Sandy,
The 2 car-crashed were pre-surgery. “Encore and “amen” to you, Phil N Blanks and every one else regarding Pat being stubborn as he is.

    Chad,
    Are these real??????? You naughty….

    Drillanwr,
    Sister, you are sooooo right.
And if Sandy would get a ban for speaking up, so would Chad for letting Pat’s bloodpressure rise to extreme measures. (Beside any other body-part that is whahaha!!!.)

    But, in general:

3 pairs of humungo boobs, restraining, reasoning, yelling, getting angry, seadating just won’t do the trick. Pat’s just doing that what has got him so far, pushing the limits a little bit further again and again. Just look at what he has achieved with YA?!!

    But, I think I’ve got a clue:
    1. The whole eye-episode scared the hell out of him. This is just his way to cope with it.
Just imagine, he got out of Rammadi alive to end up in surgery at the brink of closing up his live-achievement. So ironic, it’s just not funny
    Or:
    2. He’s just teasing and testing us, Dollardians, ghegheghe.

    Anyway:
Last resort to get Pat, to submit (complete wrong choise of words to an honoree-marine) and do the best thing right now?

Got, no f*cking clue. (Even pure blackmail didn’t work I’ve learned so far  .)

    I give up

  20. Chad

    wait… are you DRIVING??!?! wtf.

  21. 0311inOHio

Head lowered for six hours a day, Huh? Be sure you have your little rug and are facing mecca and chanting Ala Akbar, Ala Akbar…

Speedy recovery and if you get a hold of the above, put one in your mouth and one in your ear and talk to yourself.

  22. Scirus

I’m so happy to hear the surgery went well Pat. You need to pay attention to your doctor and to all your friends. I join in with everyone in wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care — relax.

Okay, so I check in late this morning and read this … and, of course, one of the remaining bear-traps left in my mind connects: [I’m supposed to keep my head lowered for six hours a day for weeks …]

So, what image pops into my head?

Dollard with the driver’s seat reclined while he’s tooling around town in the rent-a-car (which is obviously now a “rent-a-wreck”)!

Pat, don’t know if you have one … But I think it’s time you hired an assistant(who can type)/driver until you’re back upto speed, babe.

    Just sayin’ …
