Bill Clinton Doing McCain No Favors

Ben Smith in Politico:

Stumping for his wife in South Carolina, Bill Clinton said Hillary and McCain got along just famously.

“She and John McCain are very close,” Clinton said, according to CNN. “They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history, and they’re afraid they’d put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other.”

Not surprisingly, Romney’s camp has already seized on the remarks and blasted them out to reporters.

And just as predictably, a link to the story also now sits atop Drudge.

This is not what John McCain needs going into a Republican-only primary in Florida Tuesday just as he’s trying to prove his conservative credentials to those in the party’s base who are still hesitant.

just look at this Picture of her, President? Is this a fucking joke? Even ignoring bias, which I maintain for very good reasons, how in the hell is she or Obama even remotely qualified for the job??? I know the political maneuvering from inside Washington has placed her on this fast track along with the money symbiosis like those suckerfish on a shark but Jesus, isn’t there ANYONE ELSE? What country would ever take us seriously again after seeing her mug behind the presidential lecturn. Say what you want about McCain, he at least understands realpolitik (not many other things though) and even HuckaBoy was an executive of her former small state, she really only qualifies as bitch in chief, that’s about the summit of her prior experience, REALLY. Romney and Gulianni have legitimate and substantial exec. experience in crisis and/or in depth, but again, Hillary has as much presidential experience as Laura Bush plus a term as senator, which if you don’t pass any legislation, as she hasn’t, is basically about as demanding as belonging to a country club board of directors, so again, what the fuck?

That’s just stupid. McCain will lose credibility as a republican just because he shows respect towards her? So he would gain more credibility by mudslinging with her…that just doesn’t make sense. Respect for her does not mean he has to agree with her positions or ideas.

    McCain will be fine…

You might like this, on Reagan and McCain, from the American Spectator:

“Apparently dissatisfied with their presidential choices, Republicans are asking, “Why don’t we have another Ronald Reagan?” But if we think seriously about what made Ronald Reagan a great leader and a great president, we may find that there’s a reasonable facsimile hiding in plain sight. John McCain, although he has failed to toe the line of conservative orthodoxy, has many of the characteristics that the American people admired in Ronald Reagan, including the key elements that made him a successful president. In fact, given his electability, McCain offers a rare chance for conservatives to recapture the essence of the Reagan revolution.”
