Better than hoped for damage control after the Pelosi-Saves-The-Armenians debacle seems to give hope that the Turks may view us favorably again.

WASHINGTON - President Bush gave Turkey’s bid to join the European Union a glowing endorsement on Tuesday and called the Islamic nation a “constructive bridge” between the West and the Muslim world, offering a much-needed boost to U.S.-Turkish relations.

“I think Turkey sets a fantastic example for nations around the world to see where it’s possible to have a democracy coexist with a great religion like Islam and that’s important,” he said.

Bush spoke to reporters following a meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul. The two appeared together on the South Lawn, where Bush said he supported Turkey’s efforts to fight the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK rebels, in northern Iraq.

Bush called the PKK an enemy to Turkey, Iraq and “to people who want to live in peace.”

    Me thinks turkey has no business in the EU, they are a muslim nation urning for the caliphate, this will just give islam a bigger foot in the door to an already wishy washy weak Europe. turkey is about as much help on the war on terrorists as lets say pakistan, some are trying but they get no place soon or latter. Turkey has had a… how you say
    “trojan horse syndrome” for quite awhile. Being part of the EU they will exact their REVENGE.

  6. John Cunningham

    I want to give Turkey the benefit of the doubt.

    I can’t believe no one has driven a stake through her (heart).

  7. franchie

    I would suggest to Bush that Turkey becomes the 51th US state

    WTF he thinks ? rewarding the Turks by giving them an EU passport, without asking us if we agree; Bush fuck off idiot ; the Turks are islamists, invite them to your Texas ranch if you like to kiss the devil (ie Saudi monster),

    but the turks won’t enter in EU, Sarko said so

  8. John Cunningham

    Franchie, dam, don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel.

    Every once in a while Franchie as a flash of coherence and shows that she has learned something during her time in Pat’s world.

    JC;
    Erdogan, current PM of Turkey, once said, “Democracy is a train we will ride to our destination.” Which, just to be clear, is Islamic theocracy.

  11. franchie

    hey, John, isn’t it clear ? fuck them all :twisted:

    I don’t Turkey in EU

    EriK Marsh,

    I have learnt a lot, but not from you though :roll:

    Have to agree with Franchie on this one, except I wouldn’t remotely suggest Turks go to Texas or anywhere else for that matter or become the de facto 51st US state lol. The ever perpetuating meme that Turkey is a secular nation is but smoke and mirrors. Culturally and indeed politically the nation is very much Islamic.. one only has to be in that country for 5mins to realize that. The Ataturk secularist have all but disappeared having been outbred for the last 40yrs there by their hinterland and very Islamic brothers in the eastern part of Turkey by almost 9:1. With regards to admitting genocide of Orthodox Christian Greeks and Armenians they do that every day, the average Turk wears that as a badge of honor and will taunt their neighbors and remind them often of how bloodthirsty and ruthless their past was. How would any of you feel if you noticed Germans behaved the same way towards Jews today I ask? Taunted them, reminded Jews how they gassed and killed millions at every agitating opportunity they could, if Germans took pleasure in that sordid memory?? My guess is many would be utterly repulsed.. somehow Turks get away with such behavior with impunity.. of course naturally being well versed in the art of taquiyya over the centuries they will never admit to such atrocities openly and especially when a huge economic windfall awaits them e.g. by joining the EU., privately and amongst themselves it’s a different story - the Caliphate remains a fresh and prized memory.

    Yes that’s right, jizya taxes so high that ethnic cleansing was achieved even if the sword, public lynchings, raping and pillaging weren’t enough to scare Christians away, dhimmitude for all infidels, slavery and prostitution for young Christian boys and girls into Turkish harems - Christian persecution occurs still today, well to the few that have courageously or miraculously survived. Christian Orphanages were closed entirely or turned into Tukish baths not long ago, a deadly pogrom against Christians occurred in the 50’s and 60’s and continues to this day although sporadically. The underbelly of Islamic hatred for the infidel is very much alive still, a recent case in point full houses all over Turkey to watch the most expensive movie ever made there about the slaughter of US marines by Turkish agents in Iraq.. http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/02/14/news/BADGUY.php

    Saying all the above, I do accept that in geopolitical terms Turkey is a well positioned ally of the US and that the timing of Peloosi’s/Congress’ demands for the Turkish govt. to admit to genocide was especially hurtful to military interests and support in Iraq. There’s a time and place to condemn Turkey for it’s bloody history of systemic genocide of Christian peoples, this just wasn’t it. We must win the WOT and sometimes as is the case with Turkey being a NATO member military cooperation is vital. However I respectfully disagree with the President in pushing for Turkey’s membership in the EU. I do however agree that Turkey should go after the PKK - I just don’t get the PKK at all, Kurdistan such a beacon of hope and an example to all Iraqis in township/community building and cooperation and they want to jeopardize all that progress for which they’ve yearned so long for by picking a fight with a bully like Turkey..

    Until Turkey can show real remorse for the persecution and oppression of not only Christian minorities past and present but also their own impoverished people at times, until they can prove freedom of religion is a viable concept they can agree upon and set in law, until the common Turk can look into an infidel’s eyes and respect him or her and not think of them as pigs or apes, plus a litany of other transgressions on liberties (liberties which are hard to come by in any Islamic nation remember?), until the Pope feels not obliged to visit mosques and kiss the Koran when visiting Turkey nor be afraid to pray in an ancient Church steeped in Christian history, Agia Sophia… I will remain unconvinced of their “secularism” and as much as I think Eurocrats in Brussels are a demented bunch of leftist nit wits which they are, I do hope they treat Turkey’s calls for membership with immense caution. Then again going by their abysmal record of appeasement of all muslims and at all cost, Turkey may well not have to beg for inclusion into the EU, at current trends they’ll be welcomed with open arms into the new caliphate 25yrs from now.. unless of course Sarko leads the way and puts some spine back into Europeans… it’s about time Europeans wake up well before it’s too late or they’ll all be mooning the sky 5 times a day..

    Franchie,

    it dosnt matter if Turkey is EU or not, your country will is allready over run by Muzzies. How many Peugots burned last night, only 300? LOL.

  14. Franchie

    deathstar,

    they are old cars that people don’t want to pay to get rid of them :mrgreen:

    Ron,

    thanks for the good explanation, I wouldn’t have possibly being able to make it so well

    yes, I do hope that Sarko will make a clear objection to Turkey as soon as he’ll get into the presidency of EU, next july ;

    I am aware that we can’t leave the Turks completely apart from EU ; I think commercial agreeements would do quite honestly help them ; till lately, Sarko thought of a mediterranean union, that would include North Africa, Lybia, Egypt, Turkey, Grece, Italy, Spain, France, but, just for commercial facilities. See if that will work…

    So there is no truth to this article I find it funny that it seems everyone on this site thinks that the there is only one model for an Islamic country to emulate…… if that is the case what are we doing in Iraq.
    http://www.nypost.com/seven/01042008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/the_duel_in_islam_763891.htm?page=0
    think about it

  16. D_Mac

    Ya fuck this man. No way is this good for the world. Sure we get supplies into Iraq through Turkey, but if you think islamization of Europe is bad now, just wait till Turkey is part of it. This is an absolutely horrible proposition. The day Turkey gets in Germany as we know it no longer exists. I can’t believe you are reporting this as good news. I would rather lose in Iraq than open Europe up to even more islamization. Don’t you know what this would mean? It means they can go anywhere and live anywhere as citizens. This is very very very bad.

  17. franchie

    Mike, this is what the author says in your link :

    “The Turkish model, by contrast, won power via free and fair elections conducted by its ideological rivals. It never had recourse to violence, never murdered opponents, never robbed banks to finance itself and never burned hundreds of people alive to terrorize public opinion.”

    What a BS !

    I remember lots of turkish refugiees, going till the seventies, who were emprisonned, tortured, killed in Turkey, they were mostly intellectuals though ;

    D_Mac, :beer:

    remember also that Turkey was Germany allie in WW1 and in WW2, that her goal isn’t democraty in the next decades, but rather a “unic islamic party state”

  18. franchie

    for those who are not aware how the prisonners are treated in Turkey jails, just watch “Midnight express”, or reread “Lawrence of Arabia” how he’s been fucked by the Turks, ; seems that they love men there !

    I don’t expect they change, just remember the article on the honnor killing in Germany (on that blog)

  19. KBoomr113

    Worst idea ever. This will speed the demise of western europe. I thought the idea was to push Islam OUT of europe, not invite it in. It would be like us getting serious on Immigration by inviting Mexico into the US as a state and handing out passports to our new fellow citizens. I don’t think so….

  20. John Cunningham

    Maybe I should adjust my thinking.

  21. franchie
