GOP Candidates - Bash Laments/Karen Hanretty Consoles - With Video

You know, it has been dawning on me lately that, speaking for myself, I just don’t see anybody on the Republican ticket that completely satisfies me, via my values and political leanings.

Mitt is just too…I don’t know. When I was a hippie kid in the 60’s, my parents, bless their little pot smoking liberal hearts, had a word for certain people…people like Mitt. Plastic. He’s just too plastic. Not real. I sometimes get the feeling he’s like this mannequin puppet programmed to answer every question just the way he thinks you’d like to have it answered. Plastic hair, plastic smile…plastic. Decent man, but plastic.

McCain…you know I’m all for most vets, especially guys who really paid the price. And I would back McCain up in a fight any day of the week. But his record screams liberal, and I don’t want to live in the country my parents envisioned. Everyone in that Utopia got addicted to coke and either OD’d, died in an accident, killed someone, was murdered, or committed suicide, because the Utopia they envisioned was seen through a veil of fuzzy logic laced with THC, LSD, and SHIT. Plus, his immigration policy stinks. Patriotic man, but too liberal.

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy. I like cops. I like guys who put national security first. In a real way. I like good organizers, because I’m not one. But Rudy is a little too close to the center for my liking. A little too…I don’t know the word…I can’t “see” into Rudy and determine his motives sometimes. That is troublesome to me, but at least I know he’ll have guys out on a post at night so my daughter can sleep soundly. But he wouldn’t be my choice. Good watchman, but too centristic (is that a word?).

So I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to simply support, wholeheartedly, whoever ends up with the nod…

…because the alternatives…The Wicked Bitch of Oz, or the Question Mark Kid, are not an option.

I caught Hannity and Colmes tonight, and that little cutie Karen Hanretty pretty much summed it up for me, when Alan (little weasel-faced mealy-mouthed fucker, heh heh) asked her:

Exactly WHEN does the Starship come for Colmes? And WHEN do you think he’ll actually grow some muscle and flesh over that skull of his?

  2. LMcG (Texas Mom)

I was watching H&C tonight I end up turning it off in disgust (which happens every night) . . . Tonight, Alan would let Michael Reagan get a word in edgewise . . . He is such a worm.

I guess I am with you Bash - whomever gets the Republican ticket, I will vote for, but I sure hope it is not McCain - I have written him so many letters (one after the Amnesty Bill and one after the first “Shut Down Gittmo” comment and one after the “Gang of 14 - Lets All Be Happy Liberals” crap) . . . I have told him that I would never vote for him, ever (I am sure he read each letter!) . . . but if I have to, I will vote for him, . . . BUT I WILL NOT LIKE IT!

  3. Steve in NC

what I know now is that I will be pulling the lever for whomever is nominated, I may be holding back bile while I do it, but not to vote will give a defacto vote to one of the drats and that can’t happen

  4. Reagan T.

I agree Bash. I’m always going to vote for the lesser of two evils. Rudy strikes me the same way. He wants America first in everything and he’ll be kicking down the doors of anyone who screws with us. But I still really hope that Mitt gets the nomination.

  5. Jim

Yea I’m miffed with the whole lot per say. My last ideal presidential hopeful was George Allen and since his fall from grace I’ve felt less than confident about anyone else.

  6. Jon

Well, I guess if Mitt is plastic, that makes the Clintons pure acrylic. At least he has a belief system he sticks to. It’s a very imperfect election cycle to be sure, but I’m glad Romney is leading to date, based on the other choices available at this point.

  7. A. S. Wise- VA

I think you express the sentiments of a good majority here. Two years ago, I was expecting George Allen would be leading the ticket in ‘08, and rally the base without a sweat (hell, I wish he’d still run). We all know what happened to that possibility. When the campaign swung into motion for real, Duncan Hunter became my choice. I believed that he has 100% compatibility with my stances on the issues, but he never got much traction at all. But any of the viable GOP choices is way better than the alternative.

  8. B. Veener

    Jon -

How can you say Romney “has a belief system he sticks to.” When he’s the Governor of liberal Massachusetts, he’s pro-choice. When he decides to run for President, he magically decides he’s pro-life. That’s the opposite of having a belief system he sticks so.

  9. Jim

Lets get back on track with the military news…this political
redundant rhetoric bullshit id boring me to tears especially all the anti-McCain spammers…What the hell is going on in Afghanistan and lets get back to some daily progress in Iraq (the reason I use to come to this site)

  10. Reagan T.

I think that Mitt is personally pro-life but wouldn’t force that on other people. Its the same as how he doesn’t drink alcohol. Just because he doesn’t support it doesn’t mean prohibition is coming back. He just clarified his personal beliefs.

  11. LMcG (Texas Mom)

Actually, Mitt Romney changed his abortion stance while he was still governor much to the dismay of liberal Massachusettes . . .

McCains open border position is a slap in the face of the war on terror - That is military news.

  12. CPLViper

Steve in NC: “… holding back bile while I do it …”

I whole-heartedly agree with that statement. Since Thompson pulled out I feel like America just turned started a 4 year journey to hell, no matter who wins.

SOMEBODY, QUICK, CALL NEWT … LET’S GET HIM TO RUN!

  13. LMcG (Texas Mom)

Bash - Are you an anti-McCain spammer? Maybe he is talking about me :?:

  14. Jim

    LMcG (Texas Mom)
Are you on drugs! You say the same thing over and over and over

    WTF

  15. Bash (the infidel)

LMcG (Texas Mom):”Bash - Are you an anti-McCain spammer?”

    Nah…I’m only anti-liberal democrat.

Be it known that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an anti-McCain spammer.

Jim, may be referencing that the last couple of things I put up regarding McCain haven’t been positive, but I haven’t put up a positive piece on anybody.

Not that I am consciously aware of, at least.

I guess I am just anti-politician. Same shit, different election. When I was born JFK was president, but my firstreal recollection of a “President” was 1968, when my parents campaigned for Kennedy. I remember Nixon quite well, and how most of my friends’ parents all liked Nixon, but my parents despised him.

It wasn’t popular, being a hippie back then, contrary to what he pseudo-hippies of the 80’s to present would want to believe.

Seen ‘em all since. First presidential vote i cast was for Reagan in ‘80. He was the only President, to this day, that I genuinely liked. I really truly liked that guy.

I like GW a whole lot between 9/11 and, oh, say late ‘05, then became slightly disillusioned. I still believe he has always acted with America’s ultimate short and long term security at heart, and that matters most to me.

Fred Thompson seemed like a genuine type of guy, I just don’t think he was hungry for it. I liked Hunter, too.

I just don’t think that the mainstream media is going to favor a tough-talker, and so therefore, mainstream America, who gets spoon-fed all off their info via the MSM, will not elect one, because the MSM has set them up for the last several years to turn away from the tough-talking ass-kickers.

But it is tough-talking ass-kickers that America needs, the MSM just won’t let them know that.

We pay very close attention to how the MSM operates, and the effects they have on the general populace.

Take that to the bank. Geez, I’m rambling…

  16. LMcG (Texas Mom)

Bash, I think you do a great job of posting all sorts of information - across the board - not one way or the other - well, no full blown left-wing stuff and that is good . . . but very open-minded as far as politics and day to day Americana stuff . . .

    Jim just doesn’t like that I don’t like McCain . . . Can’t change how I feel.

  17. azbastard

I was looking for someone who wasnt afraid to speak the truth..someone who wasnt afraid to piss the liberals off by calling a spade a spade..someone who wasnt just another wahington politician who plays the game of power and dances around the real issues..thought about not even voting at all, but i’ll vote for whoever gets the nod also

  18. Kermit

My choice out of the original candidates was Hunter. When he did not seem to get any traction, I was hoping that Fred would take charge but he never did.

I remember so well Hunter’s charge that Romney was involved with technology to Saddam and the 3Com deal with China.
I remember McCain’s shamnest most of all and the revelation of the open borders guy in his staff.
There is something about the Huckster that smells like a rat to me. I cannot quite put my finger on it yet, but I trust him least of all.

    I’m behind Rudy now.

  19. Dan (The Infidel)

Can’t stand Colmes. I usually watch H&C until its Comes turn to talk and then I hit the mute button until he’s done.

Love Karen. She’s blond, great looking and has a brain. What’s not to like?

I don’t particurally like Romney. I saw his debate in MA a few years back when I was on business there. He sounded just like his lib opponent who I believe was Markey. I did a double-take when I saw the “R” on the screen next to his name.

Looks like he’s the front-runner. Still IMO, a better choice than either the Hildabeast or the magic negro.
I’d have to hold my nose to vote for Romney.

I heard a Dhimi on the radio today say that if Osama doesn’t get the nod and Romney gets the Republican nomination…that he would support Romney for POTUS.

He isn’t the only Dhimi that I’ve heard say that.

The fat lady isn’t singing yet, but 2008 looks like another Reub POTUS win to me. It’s the Senate and House elections that I’m worried about. We don’t need a majority….we just need to hold the line with the numbers that we have.

  20. BILL

I agree with what Bash says about the Republicans but I don’t agree with taking the lessor of two evils anymore. That is what us conservatives have been doing way too long. Look what it has gotten us! It got us a Liberal Republican President that has turned the Republican leadership to the left. Can any of you not how much worse it is going to be if one of the three liberal Republicans make it this time??! We as conservatives will not have a party that we can all home any longer. I would rather a Liberal Democrat screw things up than a liberal Republican take the blame. We need to send a message to the Republican Party that we have had enough. Don’t forget there is 2010.

  21. Goodbye Natalie

So I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to simply support, wholeheartedly, whoever ends up with the nod…

…because the alternatives…The Wicked Bitch of Oz, or the Question Mark Kid, are not an option.

Bash, don’t feel alone my friend. I’m right there saying the same thing including here for months. Give me the Republican nom, I’ll hold my nose and vote ‘R’.

But you know, I have decided there are a bunch of us, and I mean a bunch of us, that have decided both parties are so incredibly worthless up anymore, you’re not quite sure what to think. In fact, other than terrorism and some lame talk about morality and culture with little action, I’m not seeing much difference in either major party.

Though no Vet, I’ve decided I like you soldiers most and whoever will do best for the fighting guys and their families, and who I think will nominate constructionalist SCOTUS, they’ve got my vote. It’s about as simple as that.

  22. Steve in NC

@ Bill, do you like the current leadership of the Congress? With that attitude I hope you can enjoy a democrat president and a rubber stamp Congress.

It does suck, but unless you have some control you cannot effect change.

Taking your ball and going home just says your a loser.

  23. BILL

    TIME FOR A HISTORY LESSON:

Let’s all hold our nose and vote for a Liberal Republican!!!

We can start with Bush 41. He was the first hold your nose President that I could vote for (my age). Bush 41 was put on the ticket as VP for no reason but to keep the moderate/liberal wing of the Republican Party happy and willing to support the ticket. So, he had a stepping stone to be the next president.

Bush 41’s turn came next to take the Republican Party by the helm. We were told yes he is a moderate to a liberal but we can work with him. We can get him to be something other than what he is! Did we succeed in doing that?? “Read my lips no new taxes” Gun bans. Shall I go on? Because he was the leader of the Republican Party and not a conservative he lost to Clinton! Don’t blame the Little General for it. We as conservatives are to blame for holding our nose and settling for less than what we expect out of the Republican leadership. If he would have been a true conservative the Little General would not have had any traction at all.

So, we got what we deserved with Clinton, but later we got a Republican controlled Congress!! Following that we were told we have a new savior in Bob Dole. Yes, he was a little more conservative than Bush 41 but he still was not what a lot of conservatives wanted. Again, we held our nose and voted for Dole. We all know what happened after that. There was a Great Sucking Sound!

Prior to the 2000 election we were given a choice of President Bush the lesser of two evils in his own party (again that is our fault) and again a hold your nose vote. We were told that we can work with him even though he had some liberal ideas with his so called compassionate conservatism. Who the heck thought that one up??!! He told us straight up that he would ban guns, but yet conservatives supported him! He went on to let Kennedy write the education bill!!

So again, we had no choice but to elect Bush in fear of Scary Kerry so we held our noses big time and voted for him. As conservatives are we happy??!! Are we really going to be happy with one of the Liberal Three Republicans that have to choose from??!! Are they really better than a stinking DEM??!! With a Liberal Republican in office do you think we can regain control of Congress??!!

All you conservatives that are going to hold your nose this time around go ahead! I for one will not do it this time!

  24. BILL

Sorry steve I am not a loser because I have morals and convictions! Do you really think that if we elect a Liberal Republican that we will gain seats in Congress and win it back? We held Congress until a Liberal Republican in Bush cost us Congress! You don’t know much about politics do you?

  25. BILL

One more comment Steve. Again, you don’t know much about politics. The Congress that we controlled up until recently rubber stamped most of Bush’s presidency! That is exactly why we lost Congress!

  26. BILL

    JUST THOUGHT OF THIS…

If you vote for a loser (Liberal Republican) are you not then a loser??

  27. Steve in NC

Bill, it’s simple politics. I have never agreed 100% with anyone I have ever voted for. That does not stop me from participating in an election, for you have to make choices in life and choosing the lesser of two evils is sometimes the best route.

Like I said above, I may have bile in my throat when I vote, but I will vote for the best choice available.

You don’t like what is going on, get active and work for change in the party. Who said the Republican party has to serve your individual needs? To stay home and not choose a side is why the d’rats are in charge of Congress now, and I am still pissed at people who stayed home and let that happen. Again you cannot effect change if you have no power. No one will hand you a perfect world on a platter so quit sulking and participate.

  28. BILL

Steve we have tried your way and we have lost this way. You can’t see that?? It is not simple politics Steve it is Conservative values against a Liberal sickness! The cancer that is Liberalism has rooted itself in the Republican Party big time and it really started with Bush 41. Your so sold called power is a false hope that a Liberal Republican is going to give you that power to make a change and that is not going to happen! You can see what false hope has given us since Bush 41. I am not sulking sir and it was not that people stayed home last time and not voted it was because the Republican Liberals lost this Congress from the top down. What I hate most about people like you are that you are sheep being lead by the nose by the Republican Party and can’t see it! Making a change might have to happen after the Republican Party looses big time. Then maybe they will remember who their base is. I am a Conservative first and a Republican second. The Republican Party has chosen their own defeat not conservatives. If you can’t see that then we as conservatives are doomed. Lastly, to settle for one of these Liberal Republicans you do that but don’t expect me to vote for baby killers, and gun banners and that is what the top three are!

  29. Steve in NC

A third party of conservatives needs to rise but until then I will put up with the lesser.

I do think that this nation is sliding toward socialism at a level that is nauseating to me. I may have to vote against the d’rats more than for a Republican this time, but I will vote.

    You should too.

We have the power, it was shown in the uprising against the immigration bill and I want to see more of action regarding other issues too. It can be done and it will be easier with a party friendlier to conservatives than to one that isn’t. How do you think you can change anything by sitting on the sidelines?

  30. Brian H

Bash: “Fred Thompson seemed like a genuine type of guy, I just don’t think he was hungry for it.” Hungry may help with campaigning, but there’s a lot to be said for having a president who isn’t “hungry” for that power. In fact, a reluctant president would be wonderful.

    Bill;
believe it or not, that’s the genius of representative democracy. It forces virtually everyone to compromise while offering hope for future gains on their long-term goals. “Principle” does not equate to opinionated stubbornness.

E.g., GWB has it about right; he has layers of priority in his principles. He was strongly anti-interventionist and anti-nation-building in 2000. But that got trumped when a higher principle (not yielding to violent intimidation) got invoked.
