Iran: Two Youths Sentenced To 100 Lashes Then Thrown Off A Cliff
I did a double take when I first read that. Dude, wtf is with these people? Just when I think I’ve heard it all from Iran, this. The only other time I have ever heard of people being thrown off of high places as punishment was the old Saddam regime, and recently when hamas took over Gaza they tossed that guy off the roof of a building.
Sheesh. This Sharia Law system is freaking insane. I mean, I am not opposed to the death penalty, but throwing them off a cliff…I’m sort of chuckling and shaking my head in disbelief at the same time. Just shoot them for crying out loud.
Tehran, 10 Jan- Iran’s supreme court has confirmed that two youths, found guilty of rape will receive 100 lashes each before being cast off a cliff - an ancient Islamic punishment - local media reported. The reports named the youths as Tayeb and Yazdan.
“This is a chilling sentence,” said Iranian human rights activist and lawyer Mohammad Ali Dadkhah.
“Iranian jurisprudence allows alternative punishments to those prescribed by Islamic law, but many judges ignore them, ” Dadhkhah said.
Iranian magistrates in recent weeks sentenced several people to punishments that had been in abeyance, he said. As recently as last week in Iranian Balochistan, five minority Sunnis had their hands and feet amputated, he noted.
All five Sunnis were found guilty of the crime of ‘moharebeh’ or enmity towards Allah. The highly vague definition of ‘enemy of God’ ranges from homosexuals and drug traffickers to supporters or members of armed groups opposed to the regime.
Iran in the past two days hanged seven people for drug trafficking. In 2007, it executed at least 297 people, according to campaign group Amnesty International.

These kids deserved a fair judgement. In the west we call it justice. Islam talks about justice, but delivers injustice and hypocracy instead.

Why on earth won’t the American media pay some attention to these atrocities (within Iran’s definition of law, no less!) in a country that is developing nuclear weapons? Several reasons, one being that it won’t help a Democrat get elected, and two, it’s not urgent because the MSM has concluded that the NIE report says Iran’s not developing WMD….which is NOT what the NIE report said! What a travesty our media is!?!?

January 10th, 2008 at 4:16 pmTo put it bluntly, I think this is a perfectly acceptable punishment for rape. After all, if they kill the woman after raping her, she certainly suffered before dying. Why shouldn’t the rapist suffer before dying as well?
