This can also be blamed on being numb to everything and living a life of hopelessness under the rule of tyrants. It can also be blamed on tribal and ethnic lines. That may not be politcally correct. I am woefully uneducated about Kenya and will need to do further learning. I am trying to understand how you can hack someone to death that yesterday was your neighbor. Behavior like this can’t be changed from without through external means. Help, I am starting to digress.

Tyrants get their power from the ignorance and stupidity of the masses/people and rule the people through “feelings” (see democrat base in this country)… feel hungry … feel poor … feel disenfranchised … feel discriminated against. “I feel your pain …”
Education and knowledge of things greater than yourself drive you to reach for that greatness. When you put your mind ahead of your “feelings” (tribal and ethnic falls into this catagory) you are then able to walk past that neighbor that thinks/believes differently than you do … and leave his head firmly atop his shoulders. Why, you might not even feel a crushing need to either express your beliefs, or debate them with said neighbor.
Well, as the saying goes:

This is total barbarism at the hands of people not far removed from that scene in “2001 a Space Odyssey” where the monkeys excitedly jump around and scream about using bones as weapons. I’m sure that the Kenyan Islamic thugs see their machetes just like a bone.
I can see how Mike’s comments can be made out of the emotion of these human beings being slaughtered by other “human beings”; or shall I say Islamist Beings.

Although, I’ll admit, at times I wonder.
The default setting for humans is ‘Barbarism’. It takes generations to ingrain the habits and thought processes to uplift a society to the point where it can be called ‘civilized’ without making a mockery of the word.
While it was mainly used as a pretext, the fact is that colonization did start to civilize Africa. Sadly, Africa was ‘liberated’ before things were stable, and the continent has been backsliding ever since. The expansion of Islam in particular means they’re pretty much screwed.
A civilization is the work of generations to build and days to destroy, and once lost, is rarely recovered. They never really had it in the first place, just the trappings, left over from better times.
