Massive U.S. Op Hits Second Phase
Diala, Jan 14, (VOI) – A joint Iraqi-U.S. force killed scores of gunmen belonging to al-Qaeda network and arrested 63 others during the early hours of Monday as the 2nd phase of Operation Raider Harvest started last week in several areas in Diala, the province’s police chief said.
“A Diala police force, backed by Multi-National Force (MNF) troops, started on Monday dawn the second phase of Operation Raider Harvest,
killing scores of members of al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq in the district of Buhrez, (5 km) south of Baaquba, and al-Muradiya, in the heart of the city,” Maj. General Ghanim al-Qurayshi told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).
Qurayshi did not give further details.
The U.S. army had said in a statement on Sunday that Operation Raider Harvest, designed to clear al-Qaeda in Iraq from the northern Diala River Valley, and keep them out, will soon switch into the holding phase as part of Operation Phantom Phoenix.
Phantom Phoenix, the U.S. army said, targets gunmen of al-Qaeda at the peripheries of Baghdad and areas in Diala province in a bid to enhance security in the Iraqi capital.
Baaquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km north of Baghdad.
A score is 20 isn’t it? So “scores” would be multiples of 20. As in 40 or 60 or more? Excellent….

January 14th, 2008 at 7:55 pmI didn’t read about this in the MSM! All they report is our wounded and killed. As great sports fans, Americans love to win and we are winning but the MSM only shills for terrorist and dems. The MSM is the media wing of the terrorist orgs.
January 14th, 2008 at 8:37 pmThe MSM is too busy trying to tell the American voters that a recession is near and you might lose your job. The MSM is now purposely trying to change the subject to help the party of Defeatocrats in November.
