MIAMI (Reuters) - Republican John McCain threatened to call out his nonagenarian mother on Monday to get actor Chuck Norris to stop talking about him being too old to serve as president.

“I’m going to send my 95-year-old mother to just go over and wash Chuck Norris’ mouth out with soap,” McCain quipped at a new conference.

The Arizona senator, 71, spoke when asked about a claim by Norris, a 67-year-old Hollywood action star who is campaigning for rival Mike Huckabee, that he is too old to handle the pressures of the White House.

“I didn’t pick John to support because I’m just afraid that the vice president would wind up taking over his job in that four-year presidency,” Norris said on Sunday at a fundraiser he hosted for Huckabee at his Texas ranch.

McCain, a white-haired former fighter pilot, would be the oldest first-term president ever if elected.

Fresh from a win in South Carolina’s primary election on Saturday, McCain arrived in Miami on Monday to begin a weeklong sprint of campaign appearances across much of Florida.

Polls in Florida show a tight race in which McCain leads in a diverse state with a large number of retirees.

Romney is the worse of the worse when it comes to politicians in my view. He’s plastic, wishy washy on issues and has a company called Bain Capital LLC that is currently negotiating a communications contract with China - frigging China!

    Great work, Pat!

John McCain is detested by goofs like Olbermann, Hannity, Rush, and other entrenched shills - Left and Right.

Most Americans admire John McCain and will support him.

I’m no fan of Johnny Mac’s immigration stance, nor do I go for the McCain-Feingold nonsense, but I believe the man will tell me the truth. I don’t agree with him on every point, but John McCain is the only candidate I think I can half-way trust.

Romney’s asshat remark about his sons serving their country by helping him campaign just shit all over any chance I could respect him. All he had to say is that we have an all volunteer force and his sons had not chosen to volunteer. Its not like they’d be alone in that. But no, the guy slides some smarmy crap about his kids serving by shilling for pa; don’t cut the mustard.
