He is the only one of those four who has true executive experience that went with his running a traditionally liberal state, Massachusetts, as a Republican. He knows how to run things in business-like fashion and he is well-spoken and acts presidential. That’s enough for me.

If he adds Fred Thompson on as his VP as I suspect he will to draw in the southern voters who he has a harder time appealing to as a non-southerner, I will vote for him without a second thought.

McCain is the only one whose position I agree with on the Second Amendment.

Romney said he would sign an assault weapon ban.
If someone can explain to me what an assault weapon is that can’t be made to include all firearms, I’d like to hear it. Think about it. All types of firearms have been used as an “assault weapon” not just semi-autos. Bolt action rifles, pump shotguns, single shot rifles you name it, They have all been used in war. So once an “assault weapon” ban is law, then all it requires is the “refining” of what an assault weapon is to be able to eventually ban ALL weapons.

It’s well meaning, albeit ignorant do-gooders like Romney that have chipped away at our right to keep and bear arms.

To me, once we lose the right to arm ourselves, we eventually lose the ability to govern ourselves.

FYI, a friend of mine (now deceased) who flew in Vietnam with McCain would never say why, but that he could not be trusted and if he were not an admiral’s son he would have not risen very high in the ranks at all. This had absolutely nothing to do with his capture and imprisonment. He had high regards for McCain for having had to go thru it, and holds nothing against him for anything he may have said or done while being tortured.

Whoever wins should put McCain in his Cabinet, just to keep him the hell out of the Senate. Huck should go back to being a preacher.

Except on National Security, McCain is a RINO. He may make a good VP (or Fred) or Secretary of Defense.

Unfortunately what it comes down to is who has the best chance of beating Hitlery or the 3rd Antichrist. And that might mean that I begrudgingly vote for McCain or Romney.
