Baquba’s Raider Harvest Nets 15 Al Qaeda Today
Diala, Jan 21, (VOI) – A joint Iraqi-U.S. force captured 15 gunmen of al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq west of Baaquba city during the early hours of Monday as part of Operation Raider Harvest, launched in different areas in Diala to hunt down members of the armed group, police said.
“An Iraqi force, backed by Multi-National Force (MNF) troops, arrested 15 gunmen belonging to al-Qaeda network in the village of al-Muradiya, (3 km) west of Baaquba,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI) on customary condition of anonymity.
The source provided no further details.
Diala province has been the stage for two weeks for a military operation codenamed Raider Harvest, which aims at tracking down armed groups in Diala.
Baaquba, the capital of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
