RINO Terminator Hints At Backing McRINO

The “R” doth noth stand for Republican, I can tell you that shit right fucking now. But waddayagunnado? Vote for The Bitch? The Empty Briefcase Kid? Is Romney the closest thing to a conservative Republican on the ballot?

Uncle Teddy and Cousins Caroline and Patrick won’t be too pleased, Arnie…

In case you haven’t guessed I’ll publicly state it, Louie ain’t all that thrilled about the field of candidates this year, if ya catch my drift…

SACRAMENTO — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Tuesday stopped short of announcing which Republican presidential candidate he will endorse. The Governor will meet all of the GOP candidates Wednesday in Los Angeles. But it is clear which one Schwarzenegger favors: John McCain.

At his annual address to the Sacramento Press Club, Governor Schwarzenegger stopped short of endorsing a Presidential candidate, but it’s clear he’s leaning toward his dear friend, Senator John McCain.

“I enjoy him because he also, of course, is someone who’s working on the environment and believes strongly that you can have a strong economy and good environment,” said Gov. Schwarzenegger.

The Governor’s aides say Schwarzenegger has met with Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney about their candidacy.

But Wednesday’s gushing praise of McCain has elevated chatter in political circles that an endorsement of the war hero is forthcoming.

“I would expect that he would probably endorse McCain some time this week. I think it does depend on the Florida primary,” said political analyst Tony Quinn.

Political blogger Bill Bradley predicted more than a week ago the Governor would endorse McCain because the two have so much in common.

Plus, the Governor has a soft spot for war veterans.

“They’re both sort of mavericks. They’re both entertaining characters. They’re both funny guys. Both very bright,” said Bill Bradley, New West Notes (http://pajamasmedia.com/xpress/billbradley/). “I’m also acquainted with McCain, and I can see why they get along.”

The Governor’s possible McCain endorsement would be far different from the rivalry going on among his famous Democratic family.
Married to a Kennedy, three relatives endorsed Barack Obama, while three others endorsed Hillary Clinton.

“What is surprising is that, I think for the first time, the family is not in sync,” said Schwarzenegger.

Governor Schwarzenegger hopes to chat with all the Republican candidates Wednesday night when they’re in Southern California for the GOP debate.

I will say this- the only RINOS are the people who threaten other Republicans with staying home or not voting for the GOP candidate. I am a little tired at the far right conservatives insulting everyone else in the GOP who simply does not agree with you on every issue. I would have thought that the electoral results would be demonstrating by now that the GOP is a “big tent” as Reagan wanted it to be- and not some group of self-styled zealots..

  2. Bash

    Yo LT…with all due respect:

If you read me enough here, you’ll know that I do not advocate non-voting, nor would I ever vote “D”.

It’s primary season, how many elections have you been through? If you’ve been through this enough, you’ll know that once primary season is over, its “Back the Republican all the way, baby.” We live in the Big Tent.

Don’t go jumping to conclusions or assuming things.

I’m just a little unhappy about the choices.

What would you rather be, self-styled, or styled by someone else?

Love the input though, and don’t let little disagreements keep you from visiting.

  3. gramps

The LT can kiss my ass. If McCain is the nominee he will NOT get my vote. I’ll vote Mickey Mouse again. McCain is not A Republican but another RINO just like the terminator.

I’d just as soon let a Democrat take office and the blame when things go to hell. Remember Dimmy Carter?

I am a conservative, but I’m not an ideologue – nor is my vote governed by fear. That is to say, I will not vote for a Republican nominee to whose positions I am vehemently opposed and/or whom I do not trust, just to keep Obama or, more likely, Clinton out of the White House.

Fear is a powerful motivator that can be used to coerce well-intentioned persons, groups or even the entire nation into making incredibly poor decisions – and the Republican National Committee is not above using same. The idea that I must abandon my moral compass and vote for a candidate I could not find more objectionable – in order to shut out a liberal candidate who bears little or no substantive difference to the one I voted for – is offensive to me.

OK, if conservatives stay home, which is unlikely, they will tacitly vote for Billary. I doubt any hate their country that much.

  7. Ironside

Gee, what to do… Taking Gramps’ quote of Mychal Massie to its natural conclusion- IF the choice is McCain/Shrillary: I’m voting for Fred Thompson. Slow down, think through it…

  8. gramps

    Lamolighter,
It’s not a matter of hating the country. It’s a matter of hating McCain. The only difference between McCain & Hitlary is his stand on the war in Iraq. If he is elected President I see little if any difference between him and Hitlary or Osama Obama. He’s way to tight with the liberal crowd in DC.
Here are just a few reasons I won’t vote for him.
    McCain/ Feingold
    McCain/Kennedy Shamnesty
    McCain’s vote against tax cuts
McCain’s stand on the 2nd amendment
McCain’s involvement in the Keating 5 savings & loan debacle

As said before, if the country is gonna go to hell, let it do so under a Dem President.

What’s I find disturbing is the supposedly GOP self-described “conservative” candidate, John McCain, has supported far too many liberal policies.

To wit (as provided/compiled by former Ronald Reagan team member/advisor Mark Levin) –

McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.

McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.

McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases — in American history.

McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights.

McCain-Reimportation of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety.

McCain also led the Gang of 14, which prevented the Republican leadership in the Senate from mounting a rule change that would have ended the systematic use (actual and threatened) of the filibuster to prevent majority approval of judicial nominees.

McCain-ACLU — the unprecedented granting of due-process rights to unlawful enemy combatants (terrorists).

McCain has repeatedly called for the immediate closing of Guantanamo Bay and the introduction of al-Qaeda terrorists into our own prisons — despite the legal rights they would immediately gain and the burdens of managing such a dangerous population.

While McCain proudly and repeatedly points to his battles with Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who had to rebuild the U.S. military and fight a complex war, where was McCain in the lead-up to the war — when the military was being dangerously downsized by the Clinton administration and McCain’s friend, former Secretary of Defense Bill Cohen? Where was McCain when the CIA was in desperate need of attention? Also, McCain was apparently in the dark about al-Qaeda like most of Washington, despite a decade of warnings.

The above is not make-believe. The above is quite simply McCain’s record which is easily verifiable by anyone with a brain and a computer. In addition McCain very recently blatanly lied about Romney supposedly supporting the setting of timetables for troop withdrawals from Iraq. I’m sorry but I expect more from a “conservative” candidate than engaging in the sleazy liberal tactic of distorting an opponents positions simply for self-serving political purposes. Is that wrong? Does that make me part of the “far right.”

Now as someone that survived the sixties, I like to think I still have an open-mind. Perhaps a McCainiac would like to challenge/dispute the above or simply defend the supposed conservative nature of any or all of the above.

To be fair let us look at the supposed positives McCain brings to the GOP –
McCain was a POW in Vietnam. Sooooo? My father was twice severely wounded and medivaced stateside from both tours he volunteered for in Nam - later to die from complications of those wounds. IMO, my father who earned two bronze stars and the highest medal offered by the South Vietnamese Government along with countless other commendations is more of a hero than McCain. If my father were still alive, would that single fact qualify him also to become President?
McCain supports the WOT. So do I. Does that make me a viable candidate? As demonstrated above, McCain also supports closing Gitmo based primarily on the false claims of torture and offering the same legal rights to terrorists that you and I enjoy. Is that supporting the WOT?
McCain is currently pro-life. So are the other GOP candidates with Rudy being the possible exception.
McCain is pro 2nd Ammendment - So are the other GOP candidates. Incidently, McCain is the only viable sitting Republican US Senator. As an NRA member I realize the wisdom of the NRA in supporting McCain — the “maverick” doesn’t appear to take rejection well and should he lose the nomination, McCain’s continued support for the NRA in the Senate could be in jeporday had the NRA not supported McCain.
McCain has the support of influential backers. As do the other GOP contenders. I wouldn’t recomment disputing that claim with the likes of Chuck Norris.
McCain is a uniter. Then why are we having this discussion?
And that pretty much wraps up the “positives” I’ve heard offered about McCain along with my take on those supposed positives. Interesting that the positive list is shorter than the negative and certainly less imposing than the negatives.

I’m not trying to be argumentative and certainly did not want to get into a long post while working but I’m getting a bit tired of McCainiacs telling me how wrong it is for voters to question the positions (particularly questionable record) of the next potential POTUS. On the contrary, the primaries are the exact time to discuss and determine which candidate best represents the values of the Party each individual supports. If not the primaries, when? Or are some suggesting we march in lock-step as the leftist dems do? That would require a very “big tent” indeed.

Once it goes national, there is no way I would vote for Osama or Shitlry.

As someone still in uniform, their stance on foriegn policy scares the hell outta me. Especially Shitlry, 4 years of foriegn policy based on what looks best on CNN is a pathway to disaster, as well as using the military for social experimentation again.

I don’t care for McCain, he is definitely not my first or second choice. But I think he would be better then either of the Dem’s IMO.

  11. just posting

Phil N Blanx Nice post, and your right about your dad.

  12. jam

Wow Bash, you hit some hot buttons with this one. I’m right down the line with Phil on Juan McCain, until it gets to giving my vote to the Clintons. That, I refuse to do. So I may be stuck, grudgingly punching the card for McCain, but I’d crawl through broken glass to do it.

  13. Ranger

Still, I think LT’s description of a RINO was apt.

  14. gramps

“Still, I think LT’s description of a RINO was apt.”

It may well be if you’re more of a republican then you are a Conservative.

  15. Jim

Lt I’ll back you on that…McCain backs the military and if he is all that is left, thats who I’ll vote for. I’m at this site for its military/Marine Corp affiliation. The Fucking lunatic rantings are enough to make me want to pop a bicep and plant some fruit loops dick into the dirt.
