After Rocket Attack, Israelis Demand War
Panic and protests in the streets
Debka:
After two brothers were seriously injured by one of the 37 missiles to hit Sderot and its environs Friday and Saturday, hundreds of protesters from the town were stopped by police from reaching defense minister Ehud Barak’s Tel Aviv home Saturday night. Barak who visited Sderot early Sunday was accused of responsibility for the town’s ruinous plight. Overnight, doctors amputated one of the crushed legs of 8-year old Osher Twita, who is still unconconscious, and operated on his older brother Rami. Their mother and a third brother were among the 11 shock victims. Serious damage was caused homes in Sderot and Netiv Ha’asara greenhouses.
As Sderot citizens set out Sunday for the prime minister’s office in Jerusalem, ministers and lawmakers demanded sweeping military action, targeting of Hamas and Jihad Islami leaders and tighter economic sanctions against Gaza.
Sderot leaders said that if “strategic military action” is withheld to stem the missile assaults, whose accuracy is improving, the town must be evacuated.
So far, Olmert has barred both options. He takes off for Berlin later Sunday after a conference with the defense minister.
Overnight, Israel carried out four air strikes against Palestinian metal workshops in Gaza City and Rafah and a Hamas arms depot.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report: Ehud Barak has more than once threatened firmer and broader military action to stop the missile blitz from Gaza. So far he and the prime minister have kept the military on a tight leash.
Israeli ground forces are restricted to areas 2 km inside Gaza, usually in the north, whereas the missile fire comes from the villages and camps deeper inside the enclave, which Israeli forces are ordered not to enter.
Thursday, an Israeli infantry unit discovered for the first time new underground silos for shooting missiles by remote control, making the launchers and crews harder than ever to detect by air surveillance drones. Military sources believed they were installed with the help of the Lebanese Hizballah.
Something needs to be done here. These little tit for tat attacks by the IDF are doing nothing but emboldening their enemies. If a government cant protect their own people then why the hell are they there? Israel needs to just overwhelm the Gaza strip and do house to house fighting. The US has overcome thousands of killers in Iraq and Israel needs to do the same. Its gone on for too long
February 9th, 2008 at 10:58 pmOhmert and Barach are empty suits. It’s time for them to go. Israel needs a warrior at the hem, not a couple of empty brief cases.
Seems to me that the terrorist problem is beginning to piss off the average Israeli to the point that maybe they’ll call for a special election and put Netanahu back in power.
Can’t wait for that day to arrive.
February 9th, 2008 at 11:27 pmIn my opinion bringing BN back would be the best thing Israel has ever done. Netanyahu gets it and would really throw everything, including the kitchen sink at these scum bags
February 9th, 2008 at 11:29 pmDAMMIT would BOTH sides just realize that this kind of back and forth fightin is futile and just agree to LIVE together? The lives lost on both sides are not worth the bit of dirt they are fighting for.

What is that foul stench? Smells like…moral relativism.
The Israelis handed the muslims everything they claim to have wanted, and all they have to show for it are the corpses of murdered civilians.
The only thing the Israelis can do to appease the muslims is die.
February 10th, 2008 at 5:05 amThe IDF needs to level about 10 miles of ground, screw the house to house stuff. It’s time Islam got set on its ass.
February 10th, 2008 at 6:36 amI don’t understand the Israelis.
How do the Palestinian murderers get the rockets to the launch site?
By truck.
Cut off their fuel.
37 rockets at an Israeli village = 37 155mm’s at a Gaza villiage.
The Palestinians will not stop their campaign of indiscriminate murder and terror unless they made to feel real pain for their actions.
The west is too nice to these people.

Hating Jews is detailed in the Koran. And read Hamas’s charter sometime, or read some of the words of Arafat or any member of Fatah. No, not what they say to the world, but what they say to one another…
Their goal is to push the Israeli Jews into the sea, then strike NY and kill them there.
Can’t we all just get along? No we can’t. Not so long as there is one Nazi Muslim left on this planet. Make no mistake, that’s what they are.
February 10th, 2008 at 7:48 am@ticticboom I am not tring to be morally equivalent, although it looks that way. I am simply frustrated that this has been going on for so long, and it does not seem to be ending. That’s it.
February 10th, 2008 at 9:46 amIf Israel doesn’t finally get serious, I wish them many civilian casualties. Enough already. Go to a policy of killing ten or a hundred for every one of yours.
