Chief Of Diyala Police Survives Assasination Attempt
Baaquba, Feb 5, (VOI)- Chief of the Diala police department General Ghanem al-Qureshi escaped an attempt on his life on Tuesday when an improvised explosive device went off targeting his motorcade in central Baaquba, a police source said.
“General Ghanem al-Qureshi survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday when an explosive charge was detonated near is motorcade in the main road in central Baaquba,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI) on condition of anonymity.
“The explosion left no casualties, but caused some material damage to some of the motorcade’s vehicles,,” he added.
This is the second attempt on al-Qureshi’s life.
Baaquba, the capital of Diala, is 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
