Concern Mounts As Record Year Of Global Cooling Reverses 100 Year Trend
World Temperatures according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. Note the steep drop over the last year.
Daily Tech:
All Four Of The World’s Major Temperature Monitoring Outlets Report Widescale Global Cooling: Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.
Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article (”Researchers Predict Another Ice Age ) link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.
Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Youv’e got to be joking
February 28th, 2008 at 1:09 amWatch the “news” agencies carefully. They are dropping the
phrase “global warming” and substituting “climate change”,
hoping to still scare the crap out of you and get you to submit
to world agendas, higher taxes, and less freedom.
Global warming is bust, but the political desire to control
February 28th, 2008 at 1:49 amburns birghter than ever.
And I just threw out all of my winter clothes because AlGore told me to! You should see how stupid I look in the Speedo’s I got from his winter catalog!
I just got back from the mail box, my AlGore spring catalog arrived and it has a huge selection of Long Johns on sale, plus tax, plus S&H, plus insurance, plus extended waranty! I knew that Fucker was going to make a buck off this shit somehow!
February 28th, 2008 at 1:49 amtime to think to grow “famine food” such as rutabagas, Jerusalem artichockes… that are of ” cool” temperatures vegetables.
well, if you look at history books, (ours, I am afraid), then you would see that the end of the middle-ages, there was such a period, that corresponded to famines, etc… then another one in the 18 th century and 19 th century ; that also explained the french revolution in 1789 and in 1848, there weren’t any crops for a few years, cause of frost and incessant rains in autumns,

February 28th, 2008 at 2:14 am5.30am, it’s 19F here in Philadelphia. Yea, I know it’s cold.
February 28th, 2008 at 2:44 amI sent this around last night, along with the process for broken fluorescent bulbs.
This whole global warming shit is a primarily a way to use fear of a greater threat to control and manipulate the population by the new politburo, ie dhimicrats and the un.
..
I can’t wait for the revolution….
February 28th, 2008 at 4:26 ami bet the Goreacles coffee tastes like the cat pissed in it this morning!!! i’m sure we can expect some statement from him by the end of the week.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:11 amPoor Obama “Yo Momma” Hussein Obama. HE, was going to stop global warming but it seems that Momma Nature has taken care of that.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:52 amClearly G-d is fucking with Al Gore and the GWCultists …
“Hey, Mike … Gabe … Rafe … You see what that little pisser Gore is saying down there? … EH! Apparently he didn’t get a clue from Florida in 2000. {very loud echoes of heavy laughter} Mike, you’re on a first name basis with Lucifer … Phone down and tell him to send up some of that Hell AC and make Gore look like a complete shit-for-brains …”
February 28th, 2008 at 5:59 amMan this is the second time this has happened in the past two years to these wombats. Remember how the number of hurricanes was supposed to increase year to year after 2005 because of a large pocket of CO2 gas sitting over the Atlantic? Well, in the summer of 2006 that pocket literally disappeared, the “scientists” didn’t know why and guess what…we have had nothing but record LOW numbers of hurricanes ever since. These wombats have no idea what the weather will be like in 3 days, let alone year to year.
Frenchie,
February 28th, 2008 at 6:10 amYes, contrary to popular belief, we “dunderheaded” Yanks do know about the Little Ice-Age. Thankfully, we’ve expanded our crop base with things like “Russian Wheat” that are hardier in colder temps to accompany our indigenous crops that are better for warm weather, so we’ll be the world’s bread basket again. We Yanks may stumble around a little bit, but we always find a way. It’s just our nature.
Johnnie could you post the speedo pics? - - to warm us all up.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:24 amAl Gore did not invent the internet, but he definitely did invent Global Warming.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:34 amLftBhndAgn
That’s a gem, babe!
February 28th, 2008 at 6:46 amHAHAHA! Al Gore has to make a new movie now! Personally, I’m going to start burning pure coal to combat this potential disaster.
February 28th, 2008 at 7:29 amLevel headed Americans are right again. well ill be damned guys imagine that

This is fun. I was reading a study on sunspot activity and it seems during warming periods there is a lot of sunspot activity. During colder periods, there is little sunspot activity on the sun. In this current period, there is little sunspot activity…
I was also reading a study on temperature reading instumentation being inaccurate for several reasons.
One, the temperature monitor stations are located too close to a heat source (such as airport runways with parked aircraft just returned from a flight). This causes any temperature readings taken be off by as much as 3 degrees F. Something like 85% of our instumentation is giving faulty readings.
Lastly, in the old Soviet Union, there were hundreds of monitoring stations across the old USSR, giving the world excellent temp data over an extensive land mass.
With the fall of the old USSR, most of these temerature gathering stations have been abandoned due to lack of funding. So the mean global temperature is determined with far fewer data points, making any global temperature readings suspect.
So, I go back to the study of sunspot activity as a better precurser of global climate changes.
The trend is not good for manbearpig and his minions. It would seem that the global warming period stopped in 1998 and has remained flat ever since. If there is any trend it is towards a more cooler period.
BTW, mankind has NOTHING to do with these global temp variations. It is a natural change that has more to do with sunspot activity and/or natural pollutants such as volcanic ash.
Manbearpig and the rest of his carnival-barkers might want to pack it in…No sales today pal.
February 28th, 2008 at 8:35 amTwo points: today I busted into my kid’s class to pick her up for a dental appt., and they were sitting through a play on “global warming.” Of course, they kept the event quiet. Next, while flourescent bulbs probably cause more problems than they solve, with lethal mercury, LED bulbs are probably the wave of the future.
February 28th, 2008 at 11:30 amOh, the play had a person dressed in a furry suit supposed to be a polar bear, and this girl dressed like Little Red Rider wailing about the melting ice. Even my kid said it was stupid.
February 28th, 2008 at 11:33 amHillary goes public in her quest for the top office and the earth cools…..coincidence?…the ice queen cometh.
February 28th, 2008 at 11:52 amor actually i should have said level headed earthlings of all types were right again
February 28th, 2008 at 11:54 amso i wonder if i get all that bloody extra petrol/gas tax back that our fuckwit government keeps putting up,i knew this was a load of festering wombat poo when all the sandall wearing freaks came down from their trees to berate four+four drivers.
February 28th, 2008 at 12:00 pmhahah this is great! i happen to be a meteorology major in college now, and i cant wait to show this to all of my professors who, yes you guessed it, are proud members of the church of global warming
February 28th, 2008 at 12:32 pmThe Goreacle must feel like a fuck-tard… wonder if they’ll revoke his nobel prize for doing NOTHING
February 28th, 2008 at 1:08 pmHBarnhill
it has absolutely and positively become a new religion
February 28th, 2008 at 7:24 pmMark Tanberg “Johnnie could you post the speedo pics? - - to warm us all up.”
If by “warm you all up”, you mean “make you throw up”? Then sure!
Warning! They aren’t pretty:

February 28th, 2008 at 10:05 pmAspen must feel so relieved
February 28th, 2008 at 11:04 pmal gore made a gazillion dollars scaming people..he should be tar and feathered
February 29th, 2008 at 3:25 amYou guys dont want to know what record cold is in minnesota.
February 29th, 2008 at 4:03 am@JonnyMordant:
I’m not going anywhere near those links…
February 29th, 2008 at 7:33 amGee Algore, I just don’t know what to believe these days. Could you straighten me out on this?
February 29th, 2008 at 6:25 pmI would just like to know, what is the CORRECT earth temperature? Don’t we need to know that before either global warming or global cooling can be trumpeted?
