I do NOT envy you Pat. When I work on my little home movies it is enough to drive ME nuts. I couldn't imaging having to work on such a monumental project that you are and have so much red tape and all the other crap that goes along with it. I don't know how you do it. When all is said & done, you deserve a VERY NICE vacation. YOU worked for it!!!

 Pat -

I don’t know if America is ready for the story of the dedicated, willing warrior with a responsible and mature love for killing. Early in one episode, a Marine who’s face is the embodient of a cheub says, ( he looks twelve, and you can tell this is a good kid with a heart of gold ) he says, “I couln’t really say I believe in killing, but there’s people here who need to be put in the ground. Not a hint of anger, bravado, cuteseyness, or mugging for the camera. Says it just like a straight fact, with a sense of conviction. He looks like everyone’sw neighbor.
-----------------------------------------------------------

And THOSE ARE the Marines I know ... To the letter, Pat!

This is going to hit a nerve ... a might big one.

Masterpiece?

More like the Gold Standard ...

You know, I have been wondering about this same subject for along time as well. When I read " We were one " I think there was a narrative about a meeting or moto speech or something where a Marine said something to the effect of " We as Marine's are trained to deal with situations that would make most people curl up in a ball and cry, or have candle light vigils and seek counseling "

Is America ready to see a very unfiltered view of war? We're going to find out.....

Me personally, I am dying to see more of this because I am enlisting in the USMC soon and this has given me better insight as to what I might need to expect then anything else besides books such as We were one, House to House and the like. But those are about Fallujah and this series shows more what the daily grind of patrol's are like. I always watch that clip where Pat and the Marines are looking for the mortar team and then consequently get mortared....

 Pat
If YA is a little rough around the edges from not being professionally polished then all the better, you can polish the soul right out of things.

As you know, people in the military are not col kurtz or gomer pyle, They are simply people.

A couple of truths from Diane Arbus:

"I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn't photograph them."

"The thing that's important to know is that you never know. You're always sort of feeling your way."

"SOME PEOPLE JUST NEED KILLING" ~ MARINES!

That is one slogan that drives the liberal left nuts!

It is SO TRUE though. I am glad that our guys have no qualms about speaking that truth.

That sort of talk is one of the things I missed about the Corps from the moment I got out. You just can't talk about that kind of stuff with civilians, even sympathetic/conservative ones, without them recoiling at least a little bit.
America isn't ready to hear it, but fuck it. People are asking for reality, and I look forward to you giving it to them.

While I shy away from asking specific "details" (unless THEY initiate the `kill' subject) of the Marines I personally know who have been deployed in Iraq more than once, one of them has said calmly, "I didn't kill anyone who didn't deserve to die ..."
