Heartbreak: Condi Says “No Way” To VP
WASHINGTON - Having long played down the idea that she might someday run for president, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday said she had no plans to serve as a vice president either.
There has been speculation that Republican presidential front-runner Sen. John McCain of Arizona might tap Rice as his running mate.
“I have always said that the one thing that I have not seen myself doing is running for elected office,” Rice said at a news conference. “I didn’t even run for high school president. It’s sort of not in my genes.”
While her comments were not a categorical refusal to run, Rice also said she had no expectation of playing a role in the campaign by speaking out for McCain or other candidates.
“We all take life a day at a time in terms of trying to get the job done,” she said, saying she planned to concentrate on her work as secretary of state. “I don’t expect in any way to be involved in this campaign.”

She is a damn good choice for secretary of state. She does a fantastic job.
February 23rd, 2008 at 9:36 amShe has become too much the “lightning rod” for the Administration’s Israel policy and would be savaged on the right(rightly or wrongly).
February 23rd, 2008 at 9:46 amI respect Ms. Rice on so many levels. She is intelligent, hard working and does a fantastic job. She is also the type of woman I want my daughter to look to as a role model. Sometimes a person can do more in a non-elected position and I think she realizes that. I really do not think she is a glory seeker like so many politicians. I feel her choice of career comes from a real desire to improve this country and contribute.

I agree … not to mention political ammo for the dem side in the general election.
Perhaps, quiet (as in hush hush during the general campaign), consideration in a McCain administration. However, I’m not so certain Sec. Rice doesn’t want a bit of a break from the madness … But this IS a very fluid situation with Iraq and A-stan … and now the whole Paki situation. Her inside position is imperative.
What is very interesting about this election is the complete importance being shifted more away from the president and onto the Veep and the higher-up administration members. I don’t think, aside from the 2000 election when Cheney joined Bush, I have felt that. It IS a lesson in the actual structure of our republic/government. Right down to the Supreme Court justices …
Which is why B. Hussein looks even MORE the failure when lining it all up on paper …
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:31 amOh Puleese, not this again. She’s a disaster in State, as Russia expert and has not 1 Conservative bone in her body. She is also mentored by Mad Albright’s Commie father and there is some history on Rice that one day will come out…it ain’t good either!
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:32 amThe “Christian conservative Condi” has been a disaster! WHAT has she accomplished? NOTHING other than problems… no progress on Korea, no peaceful resolution to Iraq, no resolution to the Iran deal, key player in forcing Israel stop stop attacking Hezbolah in Lebanon before they could be mortally wounded after Israel has 10,000 mislles rained down on them. The architect for Gaza withdrawl which has proved to be a disaster and the #1 promoter of “decomcracy cures everything” insocieties where the only thing respected is an iron fist. Every free election she has instituted across the Mid East is a farce… the people all voted in either terrorists (Hamas) or governments whose CONSTITUTIONS are pledged to be subject to Sharia law and the Koran! Now she wants Israel to give up more land for peace… which has never, ever, worked anywhere!
We should only negotiate with these thugs once they contact us and offer to completely capitulate: Ban Islam and the Koran and all Koranic teaching, just like Nazism, Mein Kampf and Emperor worship were banned as evil systems to control people etc…
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:58 amElizabeth Dole for VP!!!
Strong conservative, flawless record, incredible amount of experience, and she would match up great against the NC hair stylist John Edwards.
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:29 pmMaybe they’ll draft her at the convention. I think she’d do just fine as VP.
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:53 pmI’d vote for her as VP or even as President over the current keystone cop candidates.
