Huckabee: Enough With The ‘God Questions’
NEW YORK (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee complained Saturday that he always gets “the God questions” when he’d rather be talking about public policy, and denied there’s any conflict between his faith and the right things to do as president.
Huckabee addressed a youth-oriented audience by satellite, one of four candidates who agreed to participate in the forum sponsored by MTV, The Associated Press and MySpace. The former Baptist preacher was asked almost right off if he would be capable of making decisions in the Oval Office that might be at odds with his religion.
“There’s not this glaring conflict,” he said. “Faith helps me to understand what is right.”
Religious conservatives have provided much of Huckabee’s support and he’s not been shy about courting them, an effort that continues in the last stretch before the more than 20 presidential nomination contests across the country Tuesday.
“I always get asked the God questions,” he said, adding that “it’s really been frustrating” that people don’t want to know more about his work as Arkansas governor.
Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Republican Ron Paul, also agreed to take part. Huckabee opened the forum, speaking from Montgomery, Ala.
So he gets God questions? So what. God-people want to know if a candidate is one of them or not? It’s a legitimate line of questions.
I’d be more impressed with Huckleberry if he handled the God-questions like this:
Stupid Lib-ass commentator: Mr Huckabee if given the opportunity would you end abortion in this country?
Huckabee: Damn right, I would. Nowhere in the constitution is it written that one has the right to murder anyone else…and that includes the unborn.
To say that one’s faith drives the moral judgement process is a valid assumption. But what about lack of faith or apostate faith? How do they fit into the God-question?
Hilda and Osama say they have faith. Yet both call evil good and good evil? What god do they serve?
My point is the questions being asked of him regarding his faith/religion are moot at this point. Quit asking. Same with the other candidates.
Go Romney.
February 2nd, 2008 at 4:26 pmThe simple answer for any Christian would have been:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy *Catholic church (*Catholic not referring to Roman Catholic , but to any general Christian church that holds to this confession as the absolute Truth.),
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
His answer to “The God Question” suggests that he’s saying “Fuck God, this shit is all about ME as President and what I can do for you”! Personally that is not the type of Christian leadership I’m looking for!
Thomson was our David, Huck is our Saul, Romney our False Profit and McCain is our Hillary!
