Huckabee Gives Big Speech And….
WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Mike Huckabee on Saturday rejected suggestions that John McCain is the party’s inevitable nominee and said he won’t quit the presidential race.
“I didn’t major in math,” the former Arkansas governor told a cheering crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference meeting. “I majored in miracles.”
Huckabee, who trails in the nomination race with 198 delegates to McCain’s 719, said he was aware there had been rumors that he might quit the race, but reassured them: “I’m not quitting.”
He said he is comfortable with where his campaign is now given the resources he’s had and he planned to stay in the campaign until he could win or his opponent has the delegates to claim the prize. A total of 1,191 delegates are needed to secure the GOP nomination.
Huckabee said that his fundraising has been doing very well lately, and added: “We raised a quarter of a million dollars online yesterday.”
“I didn’t major in math”, yea, we noticed. Most didn’t major in math either, but, we can see it will take a miracle. But, hey, stranger things have happened, knock yourself out.
February 9th, 2008 at 9:40 amIf Huckabee was the Magic Negro he might have a chance.
February 9th, 2008 at 9:55 amMaybe he’s planning on inviting McCain to a worship service involving rattlesnakes.
February 9th, 2008 at 10:35 amAt McCain’s age, health issues could enter into the picture at any time. If McCain were unable to continue campaigning because of that sort of situation, would that make Huckabee the Last Main Standing and the de facto Republican nominee for presidency in November?
February 9th, 2008 at 10:47 amThe Huckster should just step aside.
All he is now is a distraction.
Like it or not McCain IS the GOP pick.
I’ll never forgive myself and I know God will probably smite me but,
I’ll vote for McCain in November.
Excuse me I have to go take shower now.
February 9th, 2008 at 11:31 am@CJW, it would go to Huckabee or Romney. Romneys campaign is only suspended which means it can be activated again at any time.
February 9th, 2008 at 11:35 amHuckabee just took Kansas! And it wasn’t even close. What does this say? Huckabee is back in the race BIG TIME. If this is an indication of what may be coming in some of the next states, we may have a real race on our hands. Conservatives have got to be ecstatic. Why did we ever listen to Limbaugh and Hannity in the first place? Romney? PLEASE!

I’m conservative and not ecstatic. There’s more to the philosophy than believing in Jesus (which I do, so this isn’t an insult). Huckabee is a populist on economic issues, and like so many others vying for political office, has no private sector experience. I’m holding my nose either way, but I’ll take McCain over Huckabee, just my opinion.
February 9th, 2008 at 1:48 pmI won’t take either of them, and there aren’t enough delegates left for Hucksterbee to win the nomination anyway. With Fred Thompson endorsing McSham, I’ll be either abstaining or voting for the Dhimmicrap nom. I won’t be part of electing John McCain so he can shit all over my conservative ideology. The man is a liberal in GOP clothing, and should be rejected by right-thinking conservatives, regardless of whether he is the nominee or not.
February 9th, 2008 at 3:34 pmHuckabee was so hateful regarding Romney over the last month . . . I don’t trust anyone who proclaims to be such a great Christian and spew such hate.
I would never vote for him based on his record on illegal immigration and taxes.
