IRS Launches Probe Of Hussein’s Church
The Trail:
By Jacqueline L. Salmon
The United Church of Christ, Sen. Barack Obama’s spiritual home, is in hot water with the Internal Revenue Service over a speech Obama gave to its national convention last June.
The IRS has notified the UCC that it has opened an investigation into Obama’s address at the UCC’s 2007 General Synod in Hartford, Conn., the UCC said yesterday.
According to a copy of an IRS letter that the church received Monday, the IRS is launching the inquiry “because reasonable belief exists that the United Church of Christ has engaged in political activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status.”
Under federal law, churches are barred from becoming directly or indirectly involved in campaigns of political candidates.
According to a text of the speech posted on the church’s Web site, Obama promised to sign a universal health care bill in his first term as president, and he denounced the Iraq war.
“I have a plan that would have already begun redeploying our troops with the goal of bringing all our combat brigades home by March 31st of next year” according to the text. He also said “our conscience cannot rest” until genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan is stopped and 12 million illegal immigrants get a chance to earn their citizenship.
An IRS spokesperson declined to comment. But a UCC spokesman, the Rev. J. Bennett Guess, said the investigation is “disturbing news.”
Haha

The little a-hole is a hypocrit AND a racist. Pull out of Iraq and abondon the Iraqis to AQ and Iran cause they are just sand niggers BUT stop genocide in Darfur cause Africa is where his daddys from.

February 26th, 2008 at 9:55 pmExpect Rev. Jesse to jump on his soapbox, he is a man of virtue after all.
I used to be a member of the Christian church (disciples of christ) a sister church of the United church of Christ under the council on church union(COCU). While the bodies of these churches are not uniformally leftist, the hierarchy is which is why such unions have taken place( I was once a pastor in my church)This is neither the first nor will be the last time these churches have illegally brought in politicians without accepting someone of an opposing viewpoint or party affiliation in direct contravention of the church’s 501C(3) tax status. But a guy of obama’s stature naturally puts it on the block. Unfortunately, he is a democrat and black and the media will portray this as a “lynching” and the UCC will play the victim card and nothing is likely to happen to anyone.
this is one of the many reasons I left this lefty church because of the double standards, too many had no problem attacking fundamentalist churches who they were suspicious of doing such things, but they would look the other way when they did it because they “were doing it for righteous reasons” and to attack them is to attack the “victims” themselves. this is another reason so many lefty christians are quick to defend Jihadis, because they too portray themselves as victims. The UCC’s are practical atheists, jesus is just their lead anarchist they choose to emulate casting criminals and terrorists as the “poor and oppressed” that Jesus commanded us to liberate.
I’m not surprised by this story at all.

February 28th, 2008 at 1:16 amyes, many of these religious bodies, like Islam, are political action groups in holy robes. Whether it’s the IRS or FBI or NSI, or whoever, they need to be defrocked.
Our pastor atttended the conference in Hartford. He noted that in addition to Sen. Obama, speakers included Lynne Redgrave and Bill Moyers. He noted the Senator’s remarks did not concern politics.
He did state there were some campaign tables but they were well outside the conference facilities and were on public sidewalks.
This would all seem to be well outside the IRS scrutiny.
As tax time does draw near for many Americans, these controversies are also reminiscent of Christ’s Tax Return itself as noted by that First Century CPA Saint Matthew, in The Gospel According to Saint Matthew 17:24-27 .
‘… “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes - ”from their own sons or from others?”
“From others,” Peter answered.’
Peter and Jesus had to go fishing for their tax money.
Maybe this time it is the IRS which has nothing to do but fish.
