The Republicans are being handed a gift with the Hill and OB
February 6th, 2008 at 7:23 pmmess, If they blow it get used to 8 years of the Hill or OB…
Too bad only the Republicans have their “gift”. What do the conservatives get?
February 6th, 2008 at 8:17 pmThe burden is on him. Playing up the stances he’s taken that are to the right, and doing a mea culpa on Shamnesty would go a long way.
February 6th, 2008 at 8:51 pmCPAC is were Coulter dropped the “faggot” bomb last year - very entertaining . . . I will be watching CSPAN - lots of it was presented there last year.
Mr. Speaker says that if “he communicates that he will govern as a pure centrist” then he will be ignored. The problem is that he is lying and stating that he is a conservative and we all know he is lying - a clear slap in the face of the truth - that is more insulting that stating he will govern as a centrist - that would be at least closer to the truth.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:07 pmRobby - I wouldn’t be surprised if some of our folks WERE too stupid to pick up this. But as to McStain, he needs to address conservatives with a LOT more than words (although some sane words would be reassuring); he needs to address us with actions. Plenty of them. But voting for this guy isn’t easy. And what options do we have? Where’s Romney? Where’s Huckabee? Where’s Giuliani? I wonder that Republicans are just as weak and divided as the Democrats. God help us.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:41 pmMcCain needs to sign a pledge ala Huckabee/NumbersUSA. If he swears that he will not try and push through an amnesty bill, then it would go a long way (certainly in my mind). This comparing himself to Reagan nonsense also needs to stop. He’s already liberal on a lot of vital issues–calling himself a conservative makes him a liar, too.
February 6th, 2008 at 10:34 pmIf you remove the conservatives fro the GOP, the rest are the same as the Democrats.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:40 amMcCain will serve amnesty just as fast as Clinton or Obama.
McCain can not win the Presidency without Conservatives; because he has already betrayed them several times too many, he can not win the Presidency. There is nothing he can say to overcome his previous betrayals.
McCain says that we Conservatives need to “calm down” and “take one for the team”, but how often has he done the same? If McCain wants Republicans to win in November, he should pull out of the race and pledge his delegates either to Romney or a real Conservative such as Mark Sanford, Rick Santorum, or George Allen, should one of them be willing to jump in the race.
Sadly, McCain’s arrogance is just too great to allow him to do so.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:55 amWhat John McCain needs to say to conservatives:
“I am dropping out of the race, vote for Mitt.”
