“If the state legislature moves forward with this one, then they should change Kentucky’s state bird from the cardinal to the debeaked, crippled, scalded, diseased, dead chicken,” said Bruce Friedrich, PETA vice president.

Hey, PETA! ... Kentucky's got your state "bird" right here.

Don't worry, there will probably be plenty of fried chicken being served in the white house soon. I think PETA is o.k with watermelons as well. win/win situation

Well I'm back. Sort of. I'm down here in San Diego at SOI finishing up my training. 5 more weeks.

Just wanted to point out the fact that PETA has openly admitted to picking up strays and shelter animals an euthanizing them.... you know, animals that had chance to find a good home.... who are the cruel ones now?

Rambo = best use of cinematic violence without a storyline.

@Paslode

I had a friend a couple of years ago whose dad use to raise chickens. Every year I'd go to his place and help the old geezer slaughter chickens to sell them for xtra bucks.

And oh BTW, Freshly slaughtered chicken is damn fine eating.
I've done pheasant too. A buddy of ours down the road from his dad used to raise pheasants. Yep, I've fed em, watered em etc, turkeys too and cows.

All good ass eating. So's Bambi too.

Did I say fuck PETA yet? Or does PETA really stand for People Eating Animals? Yeah, that's the ticket. :mrgreen:

:arrow: Dan (The Infidel)

My Hungarian Grandmother told me stories about how, during the Depression (here), she would not only kill her own chickens, but kill and clean the chickens for the neighborhood women who didn't have the stomach for it. (They'd pay her, of course)

She would hang them (the chickens, not the neighbor ladies) by their feet from her clothesline in the backyard, take her sharp, nasty-looking, big-assed knife (which she actually kept all those years later!) and just go down the line slicing their heads off.

They would also pay Grandma to cut up their butchered pigs for them. And she sold her own chickens' eggs and the milk from the one cow they had.

Since, at that time, my Granddad was drinking away most of the railroad paycheck, she bought all the furniture for their home (I still have her dining room set) ... and clothed herself and their seven kids.

@Kurt

I have indeed tried deer jerky. I have also done pulled deer BBQ, deer stew, and of course deer meat loaf and burgers (mixed with pork fat and ground pork)...Very tasty.

Also turtle, snake, monkey and iguana. Monkey is pretty good. Deer is better.

@drillanwr
Then I take it you never heard of rooster-chicken fire water? Hint: You dunk the chicken in boiling water (outside).,,,a cut off 50-gal drum with a wood fire underneath...it allows you to pluck the feathers more easily. You pluck the small ones that you miss with a pair of tweezers. And oh hell yes I ate the skin (after it was baked in the oven). Damn fine eating. Especially with mashed potatoes and fresh garden-plucked green beans. MMMMMMMMMM...GOOD!!!

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Fuck you PETA. I also like KFC.

Yep ... Grandma did that after taking the headless birds down off the clothes line.

Mind you, by the time I came around in the late 1950s she was running to the grocery store for her chickens, and the milk cow was long gone... replaced by the milkman. BTW, at the time my Father WAS a milkman ... so yeah, I'm the milkman's kid. Heh!

:arrow: Kurt -

I'll eat deer and wild fowl, but I draw the line at the rodent family, amphibians, and reptiles. Although, Grandma used to make one hell of a turtle soup, I am told but never ate, when my Grandfather or cousins would drag one in from the lake after fishing.

Now, wild mushrooms ... Granddad KNEW what he was doing there. He'd come out of the woods with a sackful and damn they were heavenly when Grandma got through with them!
