Study: Spanking May Lead To Sex Problems

Children who are spanked or given some form of physical punishment by their parents may be more likely to have sexual problems as adults, a new study finds.
An analysis of four studies by Murray Straus, co-director of the Family Research Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire-Durham, found that children who suffer physical punishment in the form of spanking, hitting or slapping are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior as adults, it is reported by USA Today.
The study, presented Thursday to the American Psychological Association, suggests that spanked children also are more likely to be “physically or verbally coercing” to a sexual partner and engage in masochistic sex, including arousal by spanking, later in life.
Elizabeth Gershoff, an assistant professor of social work at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, who reviewed 80 years of spanking research in 2002 in the APA’s Psychological Bulletin, said Straus’ work appears to be the first to link spanking to sexual problems, USA Today reported.
Gershoff said that even though many children are spanked by their parents, future problems often depend on how the children process the experience and whether they ultimately equate love with physical pain.

On to the subject of spanking a child.
1. Use the three strikes rule. Three fuckups are allowed over the same issue and then it’s last resort time.
2. Never spank a child when pissed off. Cool off first.
Never hit a child in the face. NEVER. God provided a place on a child to do the deed…and it ain’t the face.
3. Have a cut-off date for spanking. Age 10 or 11 is good.
This study is bullshit. I’ve yet to meet an adult whose parents practiced the above rules, that was some kind of weirdo.

Both my parents tried to out-do each other in the “beating the kids” department (mind you, we were ALL girls) … Mom’s weapon of choice, the wooden spoon (once she took her shoe off and landed the heel at the back of my head … resulting in me being knocked out for a few seconds and waking to some blood) … Dad’s was the belt, and on rare full moon occasions the dreaded “wire hanger” …
The level of “anger” and/or insanity (due to their resentment or frustration with their own crappy relationship) dictated open hand or closed fist (truth be told, very rare).
Although, they didn’t speak “German” … they did tend to speak in “tongues” before, during and after said commenced beatings … (See, cussing is in the DNA …) … and no, we didn’t live in a trailer park … middle-middle class insanity.

One time, when I was about 2nd grade level I ran around the oak trees in the front yard away from mom with belt in hand. She simply stated, “Your dad will be home soon.” and quietly walked inside.
I cannot state anything more than I never ran from mom again, and gave her little cause to discipline me. Dad gave me one wack on the ass when he was pissed.
In 7th grade one of the teachers was very slight, but had this nasty wooden arm from an old chair. Not one of us opted to stay after school but ALL elected to take a few hits on the ass. He had a wicked pop to his swing right before it hit.
Now this was an all boys school, and our parents were waiting to pick us up after school and we all preferred the paddle at school to what could wait us at home for holding up the ride for 1/2 an hour or so.
It sure worked at lot better than what pricks kids have turned out to be these days. My SO used to teach and can tell you stories that make you want to nuke any school, public or private.

Lang, Melissa Ethridge, Nancy Pelossi, etc).
