Iran’s official state news agency IRNA:

Visiting Tehran Mayor announced Iran’s readiness to reconstruct Baghdad at a dinner party thrown in his honor by Head of Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution of Iraq, Abdel-Aziz al-Hakim.

According to IRNA reporter in Baghdad, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf while briefing the audience on grand plans conducted, or underway by Tehran Municipality, said, “Tehran Municipality is ready to cooperate with Baghdad Municipality in projects aimed at reconstruction of Baghdad, as soon as the required preparations would be made.” Hakim, too, during the meeting referred to Iran’s wholehearted support for the Iraqi nation, appreciating the Iranian nation for their all out support and assistance.

The Head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution of Iraq welcoming Tehran Mayor’s generous proposal, asked for speedy cooperation of Iran in reconstruction of Iraq’s capital city that has a seven million population, adding, “Tehran Municipality’s cooperation is particularly needed in development plans, technical works, and rural construction.”
Qalibaf also had a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki on Saturday evening.

Tehran Mayor arrived in Baghdad on Friday morning on an invitation extended by Baghdad Mayor and is scheduled to meet a number of political and municipality officials in Baghdad and to visit the general and rural services offered in various districts of the Iraqi capital city.
