good. you wouldn't be too fucking happy if the US BANNED crucifixes of any sort.
Freedom means you're free to be a fucktard too. People don't need the government to babysit them. if women choose to wear a headscarf for religious reasons, who is anyone else to tell her she can't?

 Faith of Judas

here is the reason: you polarize people by allowing it!Every turkish woman who now doesn't wear a headscarf is nolonger a "good " muslim...

You get ousted as a non-believer in an increasingly islamified society. That's a dangerous path... the sad thing about Turkey is, that they had almost overcome this and were on the best way to become a decent modern society...

"Every turkish woman who now doesn’t wear a headscarf is nolonger a “good ” muslim…"
it's not the government's job to dictate culture and to force people into a modus of behavior "for their own good."
you support the notion because it fits within the framework of acceptable behavior for you. But at the end of the day, you're calling for the same sort of government as the Sharia Muslims, the only disagreement is about which rules "for the people's own good" are enacted.
No doubt, the culture is fucked. But governments can't and shouldn't try to force culture changes, attempts to do so never actually work anyway.

More importantly, they were RESTRICTING some people's freedom of religion to ENFORCE atheism/agnosticism. Women who (foolishly, but that's not my, or your, problem) wanted to obey that form of Islamic law were unable to do so. Are you going to support THAT?
You want a dangerous path? Banning displays of religion is pretty much brick number 1 on it.

All that law did was force the APPEARANCE of genuine civilization, it didn't create a more liberal or educated view of females.

In England, kids were uniforms at school, so no distinctions are possible between those that can and can't afford expensive clothing... it worked for them.

You may have to enforce certain rules to rid a fuckedup society from its icons... look, I am German - and it is a good thing that people after WWII were not allowed to wear Swastikas, anymore... not that they hadn't enough by then anyways lol -- but it was about rooting out something that was bad by banning it's icons...
