Video: Gunman Kills 4 & Self At Northern Illinois University
Several people have been shot on the Northern Illinois University campus. The suspect killed himself and officials say the danger has passed.
Officials confirmed that several people were shot at Cole Hall, a large lecture hall on campus, shortly after 3 p.m. and the campus was immediately placed on lockdown.
Kishwaukee Hospital reported that up to 15 people were being brought to the hospital and that three to four of those victims had suffered head wounds.
Student journalists at the school’s Northern Television Center reported that there were 18 victims, two of them fatalities, including the gunman.
Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department told the school newspaper, the Northern Star, that “The gunman is deceased,” adding that the “majority of the incident happened in Cole Hall.”
Officials said the immediate danger has passed.
A viewer who e-mailed CBS 2 said that her brother was in the lecture hall where the shooting happened. “He says that the gunmen was a white male dressed in all black. He kicked the door in and opened fire. My brother dove under the desk, and popped his head up to see the gunmen was reloading. He grabbed his girlfriend’s hand and ran to the library where they been in lockdown since.”
Katie Wagner, a student who was inside the classroom, tells CBS 2 that there were 70 students inside room 101 at Cole Hall when the shooting happened. She said the gunman entered from a side door near the front of the lecture hall and started to fire shots.
She described the gunman as white, tall, skinny and wearing a black tee shirt - and maybe something red.
She said she went to the ground immediately and just started staring at the floor.
The campus will be closed on Friday.
“Police are trying to get everyone off campus,” said student David Healy, who was near Cole Hall when the shooting happened. “At least five people have been pulled out on stretchers.”
An alert on the university’s website confirmed “several” people were taken away in ambulances.

WTF is with kids these days? Last Friday I was at acruise in and everything was chilly until some little teenaged douchebags started arguing over someone cussing in front of a little brother (who was old enough to know and say any imaginable) and one punk started talking about getting his ‘Glock’. My first reaction is ‘what a pussy’, gotta go get a gun to settle your problems?

Stop being such pussies, if you are going to fight, use your fists.

Permit registered CCW license holders to carry anywhere they damn well please, and offer gun safety and instruction courses in colleges. These courses not being “Guns are bad, tell the nearest policeman when you see one”. But a hands on how to handle, fire, and clear a weapon. “Knowledge is power” afterall.

Bring back the old ten school rules. We called them the Ten Commandments. One of which is Thou Shalt Not Murder.
Nah. That’ll never happen. The shrills that run the schools have yet to figure out the fact that if you remove accountability in a child’s upbringing and give them unfettered freedom, then you get little brats who are too busy focusing in on why everyone else is the problem and never looking at themselves as being a problem or a part of a solution.
That’s the hippie way. Blame others first. Never take personal responsibility for your own actions.
In an educational world that embraces Said, Chompsky, Spock and Kinsey… What kind of outcome can one expect? Absolutes? Nah…This is what you get…
Home school your kids. Get them the fuck out of this failed educational system. And they can do college online too.
And keep your Glocks clean and handy. Teach your children fire arms safety and the state’s ROE. They’ll be more of these insane pukes to come.
