As much as I hate DePalma, “Scarface” does have one of the best lines in a movie of all time … The movie, to me at least, had this incestuous sub-plot between Tony and his big-haired little sister. Creepy, but added to the filth and non-morals of the main character. One of the biggest “dread” moments in a movie: When Tony goes to the house and shoots Manny to death as his sister watches in horror … then informs him that they had just gotten married and it was to be a surprise. Worst, most violent scene (to me) in a movie … the shower scene where the drug pins use the chain saw to cut/torture Tony’s buddy … “Scareface” made me … nauseous
I’ve only seen “Goodfellas” once (never went in for the whole Italian mob movies … not a Godfather fan), and for some reason it made me dizzy …
Both were extremely violent and amoral … But not quite as disturbing as “Hellraiser” was … ewww!

March 16th, 2008 at 6:47 pmYeah you have to go with Goodfellas. Im a movie buff and there is no comparison. Traditional gangster movie that is.

Remember the bank robbery scene in “Heat”? It accurately did the sound of M16s firing and the chase scene was really done well. Remember it went on and on and on. Honestly left me breathless. There was a time that lasted for about six months I’d rent the tape for the sole purpose of just playing that scene, maybe five times. I had a surround sound at the time.
March 16th, 2008 at 8:11 pmGoodfellas is like, a zillion times better.
It redefined the genre of mob movies with its narrative, story line, and character detail. Not to mention its kick-ass use of chronological music. It seems that every gangster movie since has borrowed heavily, or taken from Goodfellas.

March 16th, 2008 at 8:20 pm“Goodfellas:” overall. The fact that Scorsese didn’t win a major award until “The Departed,” is ridiculous. Definitely one of my top-5 filmmakers.
“Scarface:” violence.
March 16th, 2008 at 8:53 pmScarface at least had some historical fact, the purging of Cubas jails by letting the “refugees” go. Also had some great one liners “say hello to my liddel friend” etc.
March 16th, 2008 at 11:58 pmScarface had some classic movie moments, but scene-for-scene and line-for-line, Goodfellas is a far better film. As far as gangster flicks are concerned, it is only a hair’s breadth behind The Godfather.
March 17th, 2008 at 12:23 amGoodfellas… IT’S A TRUE STORY, Henry Hill and Co., real people .

March 17th, 2008 at 7:10 amI feel an urge to be nostalgic and vote for Scarface, But Goodfellas fucking Rocked! Had a lot more to offer cast wise not to mention the clean look and the camera work was far more effective!
Fuck being nostalgic, I repeat Goodfellas Fucking Rocked!
