I know most people don’t even think about this kind of thing happening, but it does… I was looking through pictures of some coworkers from a machine shop I worked in today and even years later caught myself checking to see if everyone had their hair up in the pics (they did), as a member of the safety team I always made it a point to stress this to the women with very long hair to keep it down the collar of their shirt if it wouldn’t all fit inside a hat…
Just before I went to work there one of the secretaries had come down stairs to talk to one of the guys in the shop, he told her to get out of his work area because she wasn’t wearing the proper PPE and she turned around to storm off, when she turned she flipped her hair into the wheel on a machine and took her scalp clean off…
People hated me for being anal about this shit, but we only had 1 accident due to not using PPE on my shift… and I was standing there asking the guy why he wasn’t wearing a face shield when a part came flying out of the machine and split his lip open clean up to his nose!
