That’s what I’m talking about today…

Happy Resurrection Day!

and

Happy Easter, too!

My kids, thanks to all the wonderful chocolate, are running around like midgets on speed.

But Jesus is alive, God is on the throne, and I’m going to live forever, how about you?

If a Muslim can convert to Christianity and get baptized in front of the entire world, there’s definitely hope enough even for them. To all people for all time, Christ is risen and is alive.

  2. Reagan T.

    Amen Bash. He is risen

  3. Bill Smith

Yup, Me, too. He didn’t promise us a smooth flight, just a safe landing.

  4. Kurt(the infidel)

Amen to that. gives me peace knowing this isnt the end of the road, only passing through.

I read ahead a bit and guess what? We win. I hope that doesn’t dissapoint any of the muzzies but if it does, there’s still room on the winning side, just ask that guy in Italy…
The victory is bought and paid for.

My young years, in the 1960s, directly involved in the Catholic church through Sunday Mass (and High Latin Mass), Holy Days of Obligation, and Friday morning obligatory Mass with the rest of the sleepy grade school kids of OLPH (Our Lady Of Perpetual Help) seemed a bit torturous to a young mind and body. However, there was one thing I looked forward to every lent (and First Friday of the month) … Stations of The Cross … the Via Dolorosa … It seemed to me, even more so than Holy Communion, to reach in and touch my soul.

We would follow along in the little booklets as the Priest made the ritual up the church aisle stopping and prayerfully commemorating and paying devotion to the 12 Stations of The Cross (The path Jesus took to His Crucifixion). I would actually pay attention … Even as an adult I found enlightenment in it.

The lowly thief hanging beside Jesus has his moment of pure faith: “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Jesus (one of His last miracles) rewarding the man’s faith through forgiveness, and giving him eternal hope through that faith: “Today you will be with me in paradise.”

That exchange, MORE than any other, has always spoken to me …

In my Byzantine Rite Church the Easter Day (Week) exchange is …

    Priest: “Christ is Risen!”

    Response: “Surely! He HAS Risen!”

“I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:

Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
    born of the Virgin Mary,
    suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

    He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead.

    He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
    the communion of saints,
    the forgiveness of sins,
    the resurrection of the body,
    and life everlasting.

    Amen.”

    Johnny,

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Our Father … For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever!

  9. Tom in CO

    Amen!

You know why THAT prayer … the Nicene or Apostles’ Creed is so powerful …

It is a complete inventory of EVERYTHING Catholics take purely and solely on Faith.

Everything listed therein goes totally against human logic and reason.

    In these first two lines:

“I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth (and of all things visible and invisible) …”

It has just been said that G-d CAN do whatever is listed …

I had two good friends in high school … One’s dad was a minister, and the other’s mother was a minister … Neither could accept that Mary was a Virgin. They BOTH would argue with me for hours … And then I would recite those first two lines from the Creed … telling them it was my religion’s profession of faith … and if they did not believe those first two lines, they could never possibly believe the rest of the Creed (which I would recite … one of those things you knew by heart as a Catholic school raised kid) …

But NO! Mary could NOT have been a Virgin … OH! And the whole “Holy Trinity” thing … No Way!

And I would argue, “well, I guess you DON’T believe G-d is Almighty then …”

    Talk about chasing their tails!!!!

  11. Infdel

    He IS risen indeed.

  12. Goodbye Natalie

If somebody asked me to quote from one book and one chapter in the Bible, I believe I would quote from the Gospel John, Chapter 1. For the lost, this is really all they need to know:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Happy Easter to everyone at what is quickly becoming my favorite website…

  13. Professor Bill

Yes indeed He is risen!!!!! And the Bible is the true word of God, nothing to be added, nothing to be taken away.

Not all of us in the halls of academia are left wing earth worshipers who believe life came from mud struck by lightning.

The Apostle’s Creed is a very good summary of what I believe, I especially like “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth (and of all things visible and invisible)”…

  14. grumpymechanic

    Praise GOD Almighty, He lives!
And because he lives I can face tomorrow irregardless of what happens. As TBinSTL said earlier, We Win! through Christ Jesus our Lord we have been given the victory!

God Bless all you believers at this site and also those yet to believe.

Happy Easter to The Bash Family from mine..

Both my children are going to be up until at least midnight pumped up on suger..

I brought my 2 1/2 year old with me to Church today and just as it got very quiet - she yelled at the top of her lungs - “Look mommy, its Shaggy” pointing to a stained glass window of Jesus.. :???:

Yes, I have my work cut out for me..

I hope everyones day was beautiful and you understand that the only ones other then Jesus himself that are willing to die for your freedom are in fact, American Soldiers, Seamen, Airmen & Marines.

    Amen!

    BTW -

My oldest daughter said of her 2 yr. old son (my Grandmonster) today, “Yeah, chocolate … Crack for kids …” as it was ALL he would eat today.

MY biggest laugh for the day.

Thanks I’ll try to post more, I wasn’t sure after the barbs traded on the article regarding evolution last week. I think the vast majority of Christians and non-Christians alike don’t really understand the ramifications of the dogmas of evolution and the big bang. It even has ramifications for the Biblical resurrection message. I love talking about it and sharing my ideas(rantings) with anyone who will listen. Darwin’s principles spawned all manner of ideas which devalued human life and made man no different than an animal, this led to Nazism and Marxism.

Both Nazism and Marxism must deny the veracity of the Bible and thus the diety of Christ and of course the reseurrection of Christ. (Rant off….)

I cannot believe that humans evolved from apes, but I do believe the big bang is just the scientific realization of the spark that was DAY 1.

Jesus Christ is indeed risen, and I pray for his speedy and glorious return, AMEN!

  21. Bash

I always like to think of the Big Bang theory like this:

God said “Let there be light” and …BANG!

Could have happened that way…

  22. drillanwr (typical white female)

 Bash, ROF, and Prof. Bill -

Bash’s “Big Bang” theory is spot on …

As to “evolution” … I’ve always thought G-d made us into beings that are in constant change in accordance with our changing enviroment.

From apes … No. No more than a horse is from a cow, or a dog from a cat. Or a fly from a bee.

Anyhow, I’ve gone on more with MY G-d smack today on this thread than I have anywhere else since I’ve been ’surfing’ online … (I tend NOT to talk too much about my personal faith and beliefs … so when you see me say “G-d bless”, I really mean it)

Not a bad feeling, once in awhile, Bash … Thanks.

God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
though your people walk in the valley of darkness,
    no evil should they fear;
for they follow in faith the call of the Shepherd
whom you have sent for their hope and strength.
Attune our minds to the sound of His voice,
lead our steps in the path He has shown,
that we may know the strength of His outstretched arm
and enjoy the light of your presence for ever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Happy Easter to you Bash and everyone here.

    AMEN and AMEN
I believe God inspired our founding fathers to create this awesome country of Christian believers and the godless are trying to tear it from our grasp. here is a great site that I
recently found that has tons of nonrevised history.
