Yanked. Anyone rip it?

Hope for change.
March 28th, 2008 at 9:47 amI find this to be absolutely disgusting.
Anyone who kills (and allows to suffer) defenseless animals (seals are mammals, not fish) inhumanely like these cretins are SHOWN doing, is a cowardly weakling of the highest order in my opinion. Like most animals, seals are far more intelligent than most people believe. I’ve always gotten a kick out of watching them perform at Sea World whenever I’ve been there. They definitely are not fish, physically or in terms of their intellectual capacity.
If you do it for food, then do it humanely every time with a high powered rifle shot of appropriate caliber to the head or heart/lungs. These morons aren’t doing it primarily for food. For them to say they “need” to do this to survive is a total canard. Many people (some would argue most of us in this day and age) throughout their lives will have to retrain and/or move for work at least once. These people DO have options. If they have to move for work, then move. If they have to retrain, or go back to school, then so be it.
I strongly disagree with that old phrase “The standard of civilization in a country may be judged by the way it treats its prisoners”. At least as it pertains to being the primary standard. Maybe secondary or tertiary, but not primary. I would put treatment of animals, especially of animals we in the western world would or could consider “pets”, as being a better determinant of the “civilized” behavior of a country. Trace the roots of every serial killer that’s ever existed, and you’ll most likely find the mistreatment/torture of animals in their background.
That shouldn’t be surprising really. How can a person be expected to treat other humans with courtesy, respect and decency if they can’t even be kind to an animal who has done nothing to them?
And no, I’m definitely not some kind of PETA freak. To me these things are just simple common sense.
