He’s plannin’ a big CYA speech in Philly tomorrow…

From The Swamp:

MONACA, Pa — Barack Obama avoided questions on the teachings of his long-time pastor in a press conference here, promising to address racially tinged comments made by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright in a speech on race in America Obama plans to deliver Tuesday in Philadelphia.

From Politico:

Barack Obama will give a major speech on “the larger issue of race in this campaign,” he told reporters in Monaca, PA just now.

He was pressed there, as he has been at recent appearances, on statements by his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright.

“I am going to be talking about not just Reverend Wright, but the larger issue of race in this campaign,” he said.

He added that he would “talk about how some of these issues are perceived from within the black church issue for example,” he said.

He also briefly defended Wright from the image that has come through in a handful of repeatedly televised clips from recent Wright sermons.

“The caricature that’s being painted of him is not accurate,” he said.

The speech could offer Obama an opportunity to move past the controversy over his pastor, and to turn the conversation to a topic he’d rather focus on: his Christian faith. But the speech also guarantees that the Wright story will continue to dominate political headlines.

Mitt Romney’s attempt directly to address his Mormonism last year never decisively put the issue to rest for some voters.

Obama’s schedule puts him in Philadelphia tomorrow.

He’s going to be in Philadelphia tomorrow? Maybe I’ll spend the day one-hundred miles west in Harrisburg.

So it’s a handful of repeatedly televised clips? I don’t know what channel you’ve been watching, but it’s more than just a handful. It’s a rather telling handful. Be interesting to see how you explain black racism while you try to spin it that it’s our fault.

Obama has a very telegenic appearance, and is no doubt a very nice man. He has a lot of things going for him, except what he believes: far-left socialism, an incredibly dangerous and unworkable political system.

I hope this point is not misunderstood, but I believe it is important: Adolf Hitler could speak well, and was very successful in rallying the German people with his words. I’m sure that, to the people of his era, he was like a Messiah who had come to rescue them.

Obama also can speak well, and has an ability to get crowds excited with his polished and uplifting oratory. But, like Adolf Hitler, the problem is not his ability with words, but what he believes.

I don’t mean to imply that Obama is equivalent to Hitler, not at all. But the important point is that if all that is important to you is that Obama is a good-looking guy who speaks well, and presents himself well on a stage, I think you need to investigate a little deeper to find out what is behind the nice suit and smile before you vote for him.

We have far too many people in this country who are as shallow as a mud puddle in their thinking. Their main source of intelligent thought for the week is something like “Cheers” or one of the other silly-sappy sitcoms. They probably haven’t read anything deeper than Reader’s Digest for the last 20 years, if even that.

Lots of people voted for Bill Clinton in the 90’s, because “O he’s so handsome!” or “He looks like JFK!” ad nauseum, ad infinitum. What a pile of rot.

I would hope that, with the proliferation of alternative news outlets like Pat Dollard’s website, this will change for the better; but I’m not optimistic. This is one of my favorite haunts on the web. Not for all the swearing and cursing (which is offensive), but because I find common-sense pro-American, pro-military thinking not much expressed elsewhere. Thanks Pat.

This could be his end, to defend Wright with his own words for all to see. priceless.

Max, how’s it go, if 60 is average IQ, that means half the country is below average.

  6. Max

    John
I don’t think it’s a matter of IQ; I think it’s a matter of the Liberals running our education system into the ground for the last 50 some-odd years or more. When you add into the mix the constant stream of “low-brow” TV content that focuses on feeling rather than thinking, I think that the US population has largely become a sheep farm that can’t think clearly or biblically.

There’s a simple reason he won’t answer questions, and just wants to do the speech:

Take away his teleprompter, and its much easier to see him for the race-baiting, class-warfare Marxist he really is. That’s why he’s allergic to televised interviews and never gives a straight answer.

  8. Lone Wolf

FWIW, average IQ is defined as 100. One standard deviation is defined to be 15 points, so about 67% of the population has an IQ between 85 and 115. Only about 5% of the population has an IQ less than 70 or greater than 130. Less than 1% has an IQ less than 55 or more than 145. And no matter how smart you are: garbage in = garbage out, though the smarter ones may someday figure out that they have been fed garbage.

Many people of the highest intelligence are nearly dysfunctional and never accomplish much in their lives. They won’t concentrate their effort and work hard - they’ve been spoiled because it has always come easy and they have many distractions. Desire and hard work can overcome a multitude of deficits.

  9. Max

Lone Wolf: Desire and hard work can overcome a multitude of deficits.”

    Wise words indeed.

A Freudian slip if there ever was one. The political and Messianic “caricature” being painted by the MSM of B-HO these last several months is NOT anywhere near “accurate” …
