March 19th, 2008 at 7:47 pmwow, its odd that race is turning into the deciding factor in this election, not because whites in this country are racist as one might have expected but rather because obama’s views are so controversial and incapable of overcoming the racial divide. He is a fence sitter, he knows o.j. was guilty but he doesn’t want to call out blacks for celebrating the release of a murderer. One thing that stood out in my mind when i was listening to his “rev. wright” speech was despite the fact that his mother was white he has no white voice of his own, he always referred to the white majority as something other or alien. He could speak as a minority, as a black, immigrant, even a woman generally, but not as or for whites. How can we have a president who is so disconnected from and unsympathetic toward the single largest group of Americans. This country isn’t looking to elect the next civil rights leader but rather the next president.
