Iraqi Army Arrests Fraud And Car Robbery Gang In Baghdad
This is interesting to me because look at this.
This isn’t about a bomb-making factory they busted.
This isn’t about a torture house.
This isn’t about an Al Qaeda safe house.
This isn’t about a Shia militia, or other death squad.
This is the Iraqi Army busting regular old crooks.
Well, who knows where the money they got went, and what kinds of ties these guys have. But I’ll tell you what, I see this as a very important sign.
The Iraqi Army is going past just holding the fort, keeping the peace, flushing out terrorists.
Their busting car thieves…heh heh. Looks like they have been developing a good sytem of utilizing confidential informants, as well.
This is good.
Baghdad, Mar 12- An Iraqi army force on Wednesday arrested a 14-person fraud and robbery gang in western Baghdad, a security spokesman said.
“A force from the Iraqi army sixth division, fourth brigade captured a 14-person gang of fraud and car robbery in Tashree’a neighbourhood, western Baghdad,” Brig.Gen Qassem Atta , spokesman for Baghdad security plan dubber as Fardh al-Qanoon (law imposing), told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq.
He added the gang was captured based on intelligence tips detailing their location.
Elsewhere, the spokesman noted a force of Iraqi army 11th division “freed a captive from his abductors in al-Shaab neighbourhood, north Baghdad.”

Damn, if this keeps up Iraq will soon be safer than Mexico.

Hell, safer than D.C.!!!
I think in the last couple years we have come to depend MORE on the Iraqi Army than the Iraqi Police … They seem more serious about their work, more dedicated, more effective … and as we have seen in the last couple years MORE trustworthy than the I.P.
Good for them
March 12th, 2008 at 2:32 pmI dont think i have ever been happier to hear news like. in a relative kind of way car robbery and fraud are good news. It could be alot worse. I mean we see this kind of shit in America every day of the week
March 12th, 2008 at 2:43 pmMakes me wonder how much of the “Iraq violence” that gets the MSM so breathless is just ordinary crime.
