Friday’s “Deep Thoughts”

3:21 A.M.

Shiite gangs thought they were going to somehow actually rule half of Iraq; same thought Iran has. That shit just can’t work, so some shit has to happen.

5:13 A.M.

Sorry for the lack of night-time posting yesterday. I guess I was already in a bad mood about some things, and about 2.5 minutes into the FITNA video I punched my laptop screen, and it just broke all to shit. So I had to jury-rig another system around here till I get it fixed, and it slowed me down.

Al-Maliki Vows to Remain in Basra

By Associated Press
4:18 AM PDT, March 29, 2008

BASRA, Iraq — Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is vowing to remain in Basra overseeing operations against Shiite militias until security in the city is restored.

Al-Maliki has told tribal leaders in the southern city that he “will not leave Basra until security is restored” and those who have taken up arms against the government are punished.

He promised to “stand up to these gangs” throughout Iraq and called Basra “a decisive and final battle.”

Saturday’s broadcast by government television came four days after Iraqi troops launched their crackdown against Shiite militias and gangs in the city.

Iraqi civilian’s shot of a Basra airstrike you won’t see on MSM. Not like it’s some big deal, but still it’s a cool, rare picture:

4:18 P.M.

Finally went to bed at about 10:00 A.M. Got up about 45 minutes ago. Al Sadr got skinny. I think he’s gonna get skinnier, still.

4:32 P.M.

And then I found myself here.

4:46 P.M.

I cannot fucking believe Google actually did this to “save energy” and fight global warming. We live in a world of idiots. And its only when their bodies start piling up at the hands of the planet’s predators will things start to turn around again. Was this just a “today” thing? I don’t follow the news.

8:46 P.M.

Right on. Two oo-rah’s and a hooah.

8:52 P.M.

Shit’s gonna get crazy. Hopefully for the better in the long run. Danger is, people sometimes overreact like panicked cows or lemmings or whatever. And sometimes they do shit, just so it looks like they’re doing shit. Hopefully this isn’t the case.

Shit’s happening.

6:35 A.M.

Look, I’m no quicker to take Al Sadr at his word than anyone reading this, nor do I harbor any illusions that anything is even on the verge of being settled ( I mean, he’s still breathing, for one thing.) But I do have to say that I find the notion of a 36-hour “Tet Offensive” pretty fuckin’ funny. And who knew Nutrisystem delivered to Tehran?

What’s also very funny, is that on the front page of today’s New York Times which went to press before any word of this got out, they DESPERATELY TRIED to make the situation seem as hopeless as possible. Yeah, I’m shocked too.

Things come to me.

Fight breaks out during handover of Olympic Torch: ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Greek officials have handed over the Olympic flame to organizers of the Beijing Olympics as they physically battled Tibetan protestors.

Police scuffled with pro-Tibet protesters throughout the ceremony. About 10 demonstrators were detained. They failed to disrupt the final leg of the weeklong Greek leg of the torch relay from Ancient Olympia to the marble Panathenian Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.

The protesters chanted “Save Tibet!” and unfurled a banner that read “Stop Genocide in Tibet.”

The torch will arrive March 31 in Beijing on a specially equipped airliner. It then will travel through 20 countries before returning to mainland China—covering 85,100 miles.

AP News Alert

Mar 30 01:58 PM US/Eastern

BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi state TV says a curfew aimed at stopping clashes in Baghdad will be lifted at 6 a.m. Monday.

4:30 P.M.

Some insight into some ass-whipping from Roggio.

5:29 P.M.

Two reports from Iraq’s homemade AP, “Voices of Iraq”:

1. Arbil, Mar 30, (VOI) – Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr gave instructions to his supporters on Sunday to cease fire, according to the semi-official al-Iraqiya TV station.

“Sadr has sent a message to his loyalists urging them to end all armed activities,” the TV channel said.

Sadr, according to the channel close to the Iraqi government, “disowned anyone attacking the state institutions or parties’ offices and headquarters.”

“Based on responsibility towards Iraq and to stem Iraqi bloodshed and to preserve the country’s unity and integrity as a prelude to its independence, I call on the people to be up to their responsibility and awareness in order to maintain Iraq’s stability,” Sadr said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).

The Shiite leader appealed to the government to stop illegal raids and random detention campaigns and release all non-convicted detainees, particularly the members of the Sadrist bloc.

The Sadrists occupy 30 out of a total 275 seats in the Iraqi parliament.

Armed confrontations have been flaring up in Basra, Iraq’s second largest city and oil hub, since Tuesday between government forces and Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army militias. The clashes coincided with angry upheavals in several southern provinces, where Sadr supporters spread.

The Iraqi authorities declared a curfew in Baghdad and the provinces of Basra, Wassit, Babel, Diwaniya, Thi-Qar and Karbala to avoid further clashes that left dozens killed and wounded during the past few days.

The clashes broke out hours after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki declared a plan codenamed Saulat al-Forsan (Knights’ Assault), which he said targeted the elimination of armed groups in Basra.

2. Baghdad, Mar 30, (VOI) – Premier Nouri al-Maliki said on Sunday that Sayid Muqtada al-Sadr made “a step in the right direction” by urging his followers to cancel all armed scenes, stressing that Fardh al-Qanoon (Law Imposing) in Basra did not target any political or religious side, including the Sadrist bloc.

“The statement issued by Sayid Muqtada al-Sadr is considered a step on the right path that we hope will contribute to security stability, impose the law’s authority, and prepare environments to continue construction and rebuilding,” said a release issued by Maliki’s office.

The release quoted al-Maliki as saying, “Fardh al-Qanoon (Law Imposing) in Basra did not target any political or religious side, including the Sadr bloc.”
Earlier on Sunday, Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr gave instructions to his supporters to cease fire in Basra, and all other provinces.

5:55 P.M.

The New York Times is PISSED at the prospect of peace and less dead innocent civilians and soldiers: Their new headline, just hours old, begrudgingly acknowledges a “proposal” by Al Sadr to stop killing, but most pointedly blares: “Fighting Persists In Iraq”. Feels pretty out of step with everyone else’s take on the situation, eh? I’ve met these people, and their ilk. They wish death upon whoever’s demise they feel will help them politically. They really do. When you hear them talk privately at parties, there’s only demise you can only wish for at the moment. The left is a large herd of diseased cows, foamy spittle dribbling from the sides of their mouths.

    We’ve been training for years

    As the great operation begins
We’re the first wave on the shore
We’re the first ones to fall
    Yet soldiers have fallen before

In the dawn they will pay
With their lives as the price
    History’s written today
    In this burning inferno
    Know that nothing remains
As our forces advance on the beach

Aiming for heaven though serving in hell
Victory is ours their forces will fall

    D-day upon us

    We’ve been here before
Used to this kind of war

    Our orders were easy
    It’s kill or be killed
Blood on both sides will be spilled

In the dawn they will pay
With their lives as the price
    History’s written today
Now that we are at war
    With the axis again
This time we know what will come

Just checked, link’s still good, it’s 10 minutes long, it’s like FITNA but it has historical context.

It proves Islam’s a cult and not a Religion, at least according to western Psychologists.

    That’s good enough for me.

    Hey Pat,

I know and share your love for Gretchen, Fox morning or whatever it is, but man I’ve got another, that to me is far, far worse-Jamie Colby, the weekend hag, all tarted up in leather with a nasally midwestern voice that gets me hankering to hear fingernails on a chalkboard

  19. Pat Dollard

I agree, that fuckin’ voice of hers drives me batshit. She seems like a whore who fell into a real job. “Somehow”.

  20. Swanny

and I’ve heard her claim to fame is that she was an entertainment lawyer in Century City-you had a good chance of running into her in the past, so basically she whored it up for Fox after whoring for the studios, which is really kind of the same job anyway!

  21. PhilNBlanx

I love their excuse Kurt — “Al and Tipper both work out of their house.” Maybe they teach scuba diving lessons in their indoor pool.

Ooops, should we be talking about this? What with the debate over and all…

BTW - Got Bashman and Louie’s Just a Dead Pig vids yesterday. Everything and more Bash and Louie claimed it would be. 4 hooves waaaaaaaay up!!!! Far better than that gd Finklestein shit kids stuff. I cranked that sucker up at 8:00 last night in honor of Algore’s dementia…

  23. PhilNBlanx

I half-way caught that while nodding out in the lazy-boy last night Steve (came on at 1:00 a.m. - I’m up in Raleigh). Tried my damndest to stay awake but went out during a commercial right after they had gotten to the Florida guys.

I kept hearing Hill saying; “we will have more on this later,” when talking about a few of the jihadists/plots and really wanted to get the details but couldn’t stay awake long enough.

Did you watch the whole show? Thoughts? What did I miss?

heres a summary of that show, found it in one of the sections on Fox news website if you want to check it out. i totally missed it last night

Not as hard hitting as could be. Clean imagery, not showing the carnage that we have had from domestic black rock lovers . Made good point that it seemed that the local authorities seemed to hide or diminish the obvious connection to ‘radical’ islam. Also that the attacks are independent of orders from a central command, ie alqueeeda. There may be many nests domestically waiting for a larger uprising to attack.

At least ED Hill presented this, not like you will see this in too many of the pussified nations anymore.

They will broadcast it on HULU, so they say, not up yet, here is a link to the site:

Not on the Governor yet, a newby to NC, like so many others lately. Pat McCrory has been popular around here, but no choice yet. Is Fred Smith sane?
