NY Times Ties Illegal Immigration Foes To Racist Terrorists
It’s like some left-wing mealy-mouthed puke from the Huffington Post or The Daily Kos is the puppeteer over at the NYT…oh wait…
The front of the New York Times Week in Review is dominated by business columnist-reporter David Leonhardt’s “The Border And The Ballot Box,” his slanted essay on anti-immigration crusades then and now. The accompanying drawings give the debate the feel of a prison camp, with Americans as prison guards and potential illegals as prisoners, and the archive illustrations on the jump page include a drawing of a burning church, bearing the caption:
Anti-Catholic — Burning of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia, 1844. As immigration soared, so did nativist reaction.
Another archive illustration is captioned:
Anti-Chinese — An illustration of a massacre published in Harper’s Weekly, 1885. Chinese laborers were attacked by white coal miners.
Get the hint? If you are against illegal immigration today, you are akin to “nativist,” violent, racist mobs from over a century ago.
Throughout the long piece, Leonhardt blithely refers to anti-immigration movements, without bothering to clarify that what most protestors oppose is illegal immigration, not immigration per se.

Man, you gotta stand against these attitudes. For the American taxpayer, there is very little good to come of illegal immigration. What good do discounted prices do when your tax dollars are subsidizing them? Not just raised taxes, but the reduction in quality of medical care, schools, the strain it puts on welfare and social security. We all end up paying for it in some way or another. And not to mention how much it hurts the lower-class spectrum of legal American citizens, and people who really need these jobs. All Americans need to do is look at the big picture, and they can put forth a convincing argument that illegal immigration is BAD.
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:02 pmWhy doesn’t the New York Times make this comparison: The use of illegal immigrants today is much like the slavery in America’s history. At least that would be the truth. These companies only hire illegals because they know they can get away with paying them a fraction of what they would have to pay an American worker. A pay scale that is, relative of the time period, comparable to what many slaves were paid in the 19th century. (And yes, many slaves were paid wages, ie- 50 cents a week, give or take).
March 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pmReally, what about guys who spit in my food because they break the law?
A Pei Wei manager in Fountain Hills, AZ threatened to make a “special” meal for Sheriff Joe’s deputies when they had stopped in for some food. Apparently the sheriff’s office has been upholding the law by arresting illegals, some of who worked at Pei Wei, and the manager was “complaining” about it in a not so creative way. At least Pei Wei was smart and fired his ass considering it’s against the law to hire illegal aliens.
