March 17th, 2008 at 9:16 amits funny, not a single one of these things have the “winter soldiers” talked about “atrocities” they have committed or they have seen others commit.
They also conveniently leave out, as in this case, that the Marine Corps does not just bomb the shit out of a town with out purpose and in a hurry. As was the case in Fallujah (Operation Vigilant Resolve, Operation Al Fajr), Operation Steel Curtain (Syrian border, clear out Husaybah and Karibalah), and other battles (im sure Pat could make these same observations about Ramadi), the Marines first cordon off a city or town, give the civilians a chance to leave and then send the groundpounders and grunts in to clear out any enemy still left in the town. It does happen that genuinely, innocent civilians are killed - this is known as collateral damage. Shit happens.
Every warring force causes collateral damage. However no nation in the history of mankind takes us much care to limit collateral damage as the US military does.
Fuck the winter soldiers. Low ranking ass monkeys who didnt then and still dont understand war. The guy in this video gave me the impression while when he was in Iraq he was more concerned about going home and drinking mai tais at a local homosexual bar. Some people, even those that serve, just dont get it. I hope this ass-clown never made it beyond the role of automatic machine gunner (the lowest role in the infanrty) in his squad.
Also, this video totally rips off clips from Pats Young Americans opening credits, Pat, you should sue these bastards or at least send them an angry letter.

March 17th, 2008 at 9:52 amBeing a platoon sergeant in the 3rd ACR for OIF-1 (COLT Platoon) I can understand that these individuals may have seen/heard things that troubled them and that they did not understand. That being said, their assumptions and personal opinions that they are injecting into the situations are not only unfounded but in many cases intentional lies and would make them susceptible to the UCMJ and Court Martial.
After doing a little research on Jason Washburn, he makes statements about events and locations where either he was not an eyewitness to the events, or he was at the location a period of time after the events in question occurred. These FACTS make all of his assertions baseless and totally without merit. Additionally, Perry O’Brien, the “founder” of Winter Soldier - Iraq/Afganistan, is in the same position. Just like Washburn and Mortillo, he sits in the chair of ignorance and indignation lobbing hand grenades in the form of unproven and unfounded accusations at his fellow service members.
Having served in Al Anbar, more specifically Ramadi and the road from BIAP to Al Asad, there was never a “shovel” order handed down from command nor did I, my successor, or any other officer/NCO give my troopers or any other troopers that type of order. The “stomp” rule that many say accompanied the orders that people weren’t supposed to follow is a lie. The “stomp” rule is that if I, as an NCO and Platoon Sergeant, am giving a briefing or training and stomp any number of times when saying something, that is an important part and you bet your ass you better remember it.
Sadly, what is ultimately occurring is the same phenomenon that was seen during and after the Vietnam War where troubled veterans who served there country honorably, yet are unable to rectify what they have experienced, are sought out by these neo-socialist groups. These groups come along proclaiming an open ear and soft shoulder then manipulate these veterans into supporting their agenda. This is done in many ways but the most prevalent is for them to espouse that there are many others with the same stories and that it is a big conspiracy by “them” (Military/Government) to cover-up, hide, lie, cheat and steal. And of course, everybody likes to stick-it to “them”.
I too have seen villages obliterated and “innocent” civilians killed. But unlike these veteran’s I also saw the tanks, dismounts, antiaircraft and RPG fire coming from within these villages and “innocent” civilian populations. And when it’s all laid out, as a fire support sergeant in charge of protecting the thousands of soldiers in my Regiment and AOR, I’d much rather protect MY guys as opposed to the 7th century throwback “innocent” that decides to stand next to a tank or RPG during a war.

Dbo, have to take exception about the machine gunner being the lowest. If you’re going to do lower and higher, I tried the M60 one day. I wasn’t well suited physically, I kept falling over. I then just continued to carry an M16, better suited for me, but for five months I carried the radio. Easier for me because it was centered on my back. We had each do what each was best suited. Know what else I did? This other guy and I were enemy sized. He and I would go into any tunnels we found.

My gaydar also pegged the marine as a part of the “brotherhood” of bufu’s. Notice almost all of these IVAWs are either
1. 24 months in country, tops
2. low ranking or in support units
The “marine” who saw innocent Men along with women and children, and absolutely no weapons(doubtful because even non combatants have weapons for self defense) never seems to understand that our enemy :
1.never wears uniforms
2.Keeps their families close
3. hides weapons and rearranges bodies for propaganda purposes
personally, I think most of these troops enter the military as spies for the left so that they could form these groups when they get out.
With all the prep you get before going into battle, how can you think that when civilians die in what is guerilla, urban warfare that somehow that means your government lied to you or mislead you. And if they did, dont you think these guys would be pushing for criminal prosecution? If I had proof, definitive proof other than the speculation thats passes for proof amongst liberals, then I would be showing that to the world. believe me the media would suck it up!
